Minnesota-born Jasmine Orlando, better known by her online pseudonym, Shawty Bae, has been battling Bell's palsy for a long time. The condition affects face muscles and can lead to partial face paralysis. Shawty is also known as Vanessa Queen on Facebook. Her early years saw her attend the Spring Lake Park High School. Some of her first clips on TikTok featured content by her own brother.

Despite her struggle with Bell’s palsy, Jasmine has carved a niche for herself on social media. Her initial content on TikTok was posted from the account jasmineorlando2.

Of late, she has shot to fame on TikTok with her reaction videos and lip sync clips. Her current profile on the platform, shortybaeofficial, has garnered a massive fan base, most of whom are Latina women and people from the LGBTQ+ community. She is known for her popularity amid the FlopTok genre of TikTok fans too.

One of her best-known videos on TikTok showed her lip-syncing to Johnny Orlando and Mackenzie Ziegler’s track What If. Another popular video showed her in a doctor's office and had the caption "dang.” She has also danced and lip-synced to music by artists such as Flo Milli, Chamillionaire, and Pop Smoke.

Over the years, Jasmine has collaborated with quite a few social media stars and influencers, such as Charli D’Amelio, Alejandro Rosario, IYArnelio, and Troy Zarba. Most of her clips consist of snippets of her life, motivational messages, and funny anecdotes. On Snapchat, she is known as jasminth.
