Jaclyn Cole Miskanic, better known by her professional pseudonym Jax, or JaxWritesSongs, is originally from Atlantic Beach, New York. She later moved to East Brunswick, New Jersey.

She was all of 5 when she started training in singing. After a brief stint at the East Brunswick Public Schools, she was majorly homeschooled since eighth grade. This allowed her to focus on her music career.

In 2014, she joined the New York University, winning the John Lennon Scholarship in songwriting through the BMI Foundation.

Jax became a household name following her appearance as a contestant on American Idol season 14, where she competed as Jackie Cole. Her audition track was The Beatles song I Want To Hold Your Hand. During her first solo audition of the show’s Hollywood Week, she sang a capella version of the hit Britney Spears track Toxic.

Jax eventually finished third on American Idol and soon came up with her debut single, Forcefield. In July 2015, she, along with the other top 5 contestants launched their American Idols LIVE! Tour.

Some of her other singles are RingPop, Papercuts, and Come Home to Me. She is signed to Atlantic Records.

Jax is immensely popular on social media too. She not only maintains her own website, but has also gained millions of fans on her TikTok account, jaxwritessongs. In a November 2021 video, she was seen singing an apology text from her former boyfriend.

She is on YouTube since December 2014 and has gained millions of subscribers with her original and remixed tracks. On her Instagram profile, jax, she mostly highlights her friends and family. She is also on Twitter and Facebook.

Jax grew up with a younger brother, Matt. While her dad, John, is a firefighter who suffered injuries while on duty during the 9/11 attacks, her mother, Jill, works as a teacher at a school in New York City.

Jax has been in a relationship with country singer Riley Bria, a fellow American Idol contestant.
