Jean Currivan Trebek Biography

Jean Currivan Trebek was born on September 3, 1963, in New York City, New York, USA. She was raised in Huntington, Long Island, New York. After graduating from ‘Harborfields High School’ in Greenlawn, New York, Currivan started establishing a career in real estate. She started off as a real estate assignment supervisor and then went on to become a real estate project manager. In fact, she was working as a real estate project manager when she met Alex Trebek in the late 1980s.

Currivan met Alex Trebek at a party in 1988. Currivan later revealed that she was extremely nervous while speaking with Trebek as he was already a famous television host at the time. She also said that Trebek was down to earth, making it easier for her to have a conversation with him. After dating for about a year, Trebek proposed to her on her 26th birthday. Currivan revealed in one of her interviews that Trebek proposed her with a 16-carat sapphire ring surrounded by diamonds worth six carats. Despite being 26 years younger to him, Currivan accepted his proposal which led to their wedding on April 30, 1990. Before their wedding, Alex Trebek bought a piece of land worth $1.5 million in Hollywood Hills to build their dream home. Their wedding, which took place at ‘Regency Club’ in Los Angeles, was a star-studded ceremony with more than 150 guests. In 1990, Currivan and Alex Trebek were blessed with a son named Matthew. In 1993, Currivan gave birth to their second child, a daughter named Emily.

Jean Currivan Trebek’s son Matthew runs a Mexican restaurant in New York City, New York. Currivan helped her son by investing in his restaurant ‘Oso’ which is currently located in Harlem. Her daughter Emily is an alumnus of ‘Layola Marymount University’ from where she graduated in 2015. After graduating from college, Emily followed in her mother’s footsteps by establishing a career in real estate. Currivan is very religious. She is a member of the ‘North Hollywood Church of Religious Science.’ Despite being married to a popular television host, Currivan likes to maintain a low profile. Unlike her famous husband, she is not comfortable facing the camera. However, she has attended a couple of public events along with her husband and children. She has also posed for a photographer named Christina Gressianu as part of Christina’s portrait photography collection. Currivan is not active on social media platforms, such as Twitter and Instagram. She currently resides in California along with her husband.
