Jessica Camacho is an American actress who has garnered fame for portraying Sophie Foster in the Fox supernatural drama series ‘Sleepy Hollow’, Gypsy in The CW superhero series ‘The Flash’, and Michelle Vargas in the Netflix science fiction series ‘Another Life’. Originally from Chicago, Camacho developed an interest in acting after attending a class on the suggestion of a friend. She quickly fell in love with the craft. She later moved to San Francisco, California and worked as a waitress to support herself while receiving training at the prestigious American Conservatory Theatre. She later appeared in several stage and television projects in Chicago. Camacho made her screen debut in an episode of the children’s show ‘Come On Over’ in 2007. Her first big-screen appearance came a year later in the indie romantic comedy ‘Desertion’. In the ensuing years, she has established herself as a prominent actress, especially on television. She has also appeared in supporting roles in several films.

In 2007, Jessica Camacho appeared in her first TV project, the season-two episode ‘Express Yourself’ of WOTV’s children’s television series ‘Come On Over’. In 2008, she had her cinematic debut in writer-director Francine Michelle’s indie romantic comedy ‘Desertion’. Later that year, she portrayed a blonde woman in the romance drama ‘Nothing Like the Holidays’. Between 2009 and 2012, she guest-starred in a number of TV shows, including ‘The Beast’, ‘Justified’, ‘Dexter’, ‘Undercovers’, ‘The Mentalist’, ‘Gossip Girl’, and ‘Wedding Band’. She was part of the cast of the unsold pilot/telefilm ‘El Jefe’ in 2012.
Camacho portrayed Pilar Cortez, an unruly member of the crew of USS Colorado, in the ABC military drama ‘Last Resort’ between 2012 and 2013. In 2012, she shared the screen space with the likes of Regina Hall, Kevin Hart, Taraji P. Henson, and Gabrielle Union in the romantic comedy ‘Think Like a Man’. She was cast as Martina Vasquez in the 2014 neo-noir mystery film ‘Veronica Mars’ and Noelle in the comedy-horror ‘Suburban Gothic’.
In the 2015 fantasy-comedy ‘Ana Maria in Novela Land’, she had the minor role of Officer Gonzalez. In 2016, she appeared in the drama-thriller ‘Crave: The Fast Life’. She continued to make guest appearances in TV shows during this period. In 2015, she played Kiersten in two episodes of A&E Network’s modern western drama series ‘Longmire’. She played Reya, the leader of a depression-era biker gang, in an episode of the historical drama miniseries ‘Harley and the Davidsons’ in 2016.
In season three (2015-16) of the Fox series ‘Sleepy Hollow’, she essayed the role of the monster-hunting undercover FBI Agent Sophie Foster. Camacho bagged the role of the comic-book character Gypsy in The CW superhero series ‘The Flash’. In the show, the character is depicted as a dangerous meta-human bounty hunter from the parallel dimension Earth-19. She demonstrates similar abilities as Cisco Ramon/Vibe (Carlos Valdes). In season four, they get into a long-distance relationship. Between 2017 and 2018, she appeared in ten episodes of the show.
In writer-director Bailey Kobe’s 2017 action-adventure comedy film ‘The Babymoon’, she worked alongside Julie McNiven and Shaun Sipos. Later that year, she portrayed a coalition activist in Dan Gilroy’s legal drama ‘Roman J. Israel, Esq.’, which also stars Denzel Washington and Colin Farrell. In the second season (2018) of the NBC action-thriller series ‘Taken’, which was based on the eponymous film trilogy starring Liam Neeson, she was cast as the army captain Santana. In 2019, she appeared in Netflix’s science fiction drama series ‘Another Life’. Her character, Michelle Vargas, is the communication expert of the spaceship Salvare. Created by Aaron Martin, the show was released on July 25, 2019, and has received generally unfavourable reviews.
She is set to star in the upcoming CBS legal-drama series ‘All Rise’. It has been reported that she is portraying a top-secret role in the upcoming HBO series ‘Watchmen’, a television adaptation of the DC Comics limited series of the same name created by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons.

Jessica Camacho was born on November 26, 1982, in California, USA. Some sources claim that she was born in Chicago, Illinois. Camacho herself confirmed in an interview with the ‘Chicago Sun-Times’ in 2018 that she grew up in the Windy City. The first time she acted was when one of her friends convinced her to enrol in an acting class. She immediately developed a passion for the craft and later relocated to San Francisco where she took a job as a waitress to support herself. She spent the nights attending the prestigious American Conservatory Theatre. She then returned to Chicago where she acted in several stage and TV projects and was eventually able to get her Screen Actors Guild membership card. She then moved to Los Angeles to earnestly pursue a career in the industry.
