Jessica Parker Kennedy is a Canadian actress, best known for playing the character of Plastique in TV series ‘Smallville’ and that of Melissa Glaser in TV series ‘The Secret Circle’. Jessica Parker Kennedy started acting at the age of seven, in theater productions. She is also a classically trained singer and used to perform as a choir singer. But it was acting that became her first love sometime during her junior high school. After completing her high school, she went to study theater arts. Her professional life as an actor started with the TV movie ‘Santa Baby’. This was followed by several appearances in side roles in films and TV. Many of them were one off guest appearances or second lead roles. However, believing that good work will lead to more good work, she worked to slowly build up her acting portfolio. Soon substantial roles started coming in and she was made series regular in big production such as ‘Black Sails’ and ‘Flash’. Jessica Parker Kennedy is a person of mixed race descent with unique looks and features. Though she says her looks have never come in the way of her career at the same time she hopes that in future there will be more diverse stories and characters in film and television.

Career
Jessica Parker Kennedy studied Theater Arts at the Mount Royal College in Calgary. She made her screen debut in 2006 in the TV movie ‘Santa Baby’. This was soon followed by a film debut in the comedy musical film ‘Another Cinderella Story’ where she was the second lead Tami, the only friend of the lead character Mary, played by Selena Gomez.
In 2008, she joined the cast of ‘Smallville’ for three episodes; she portrayed the role of the DC comics heroine Bette Sans Souci or Plastique, a teenager with the ability to project high energy forces from her body.
In 2011 she was part of the main cast of the teen supernatural series ‘The Secret Circle’ and played the role of Melissa Glaser. Though the series was liked by the audiences, it was cancelled after one season. Kennedy soon booked a recurring role as Megan Rose in the popular TV series ‘90210’.
From 2014 to 2017, Jessica Parker Kennedy was seen in the historical adventure series ‘Black Sails’. It was one of the most expensive television show ever made and Kennedy recalls the extraordinary pressure that she felt during the whole process. The series was shot in South Africa where she had to live for four years. However, despite all the pressure and the isolation, Kennedy says that it was a most rewarding experience.
Since 2017 Kennedy has been starring alongside Tanisha Long in the endearing web series ‘I Love Bekka and Lucy’. The story revolves around the life of two best friends and Kennedy’s performance has been especially praised.
In 2018, Jessica Kennedy was cast as the ‘Babysitter’ in the horror film ‘Deep Murder’. Recalling what it was like to be cast in the role she said that it was the strangest pitch she had ever received. The same year Kennedy made several appearances as Nora West Allen/XS in the fourth season of the superhero TV series ‘The Flash’. She became a series regular in season 5.
Jessica Parker Kennedy will soon be seen in the comedy film ‘Business Ethics’ as Dr. Goodbody.
