Joana Ceddia created her YouTube channel on December 17, 2017. However, she posted her first video on June 28, 2018 and went on to accumulate more than 100,000 subscribers over the next three months. Interestingly, the number of her subscribers went from 100,000 to 500,000 within a week. According to the social media traffic analysis website, ‘Social Blade,’ Joana’s channel gained over 100,000 subscribers in just two days. Her sudden rise in fame is attributed to the fact that she makes old school YouTube videos. While many of her contemporaries use DSLR cameras and hire professionals to edit their videos, Joana records her videos in an iPhone and uses a $4 microphone when she speaks to her viewers. She uses her parents’ room to record her videos and relies entirely on her skills to come up with engaging content. Joana’s videos resemble the classic videos, which used to rule the internet when YouTube was new. Some of the most viewed videos on her channel are ‘I Cut my Hair with Craft Scissors,’ ‘I DIY'd Emma Chamberlain's New Clothing Line,’ ‘Spend the Day with an Overdramatic Teenager,’ ‘Following a Rob Boss Painting Tutorial,’ and ‘1 Million Cookies for my 1 Million Subscribblers.’

Thanks to Joana’s amazing success in a short period of time, many were convinced that she bought her subscribers. However, this theory was quickly rejected as the view count matched up, which led to another conspiracy theory. According to the second theory, she bought the views as well. Going by these theories, Joana couldn’t have accumulated her subscribers and views without spending thousands of dollars. Another plausible theory suggests that she might have used a mysterious algorithm to rack up millions of subscribers and views. Joana addressed these conspiracy theories, but did not give away much. She just encouraged her haters and fans to come up with more such theories and even termed her channel’s growth as ‘ridiculous.’

Joana Ceddia was born on June 21, 2001, in Brazil. She moved to Canada along with her parents at a very young age. Joana grew up watching ‘Harry Potter’ movies and was obsessed with the fantasy film series when she was in the second grade. By the time she was in the tenth grade, Joana had started painting, which quickly became one of her favorite pastimes. She is a self-taught painter, who learnt the art of painting by watching tutorial videos on YouTube. While she watches videos of many YouTubers, Chris Fleming is her favorite. Joana is fond of running and that helps her stay fit. Despite a successful YouTube career, Joana aspires to land a day job in the near future.
