A multi-talented personality, Joey Fatone is a singer, actor, dancer and TV presenter who is most popularly known as a member of the boyband NSYNC. Music has been in his blood with his father being a singer with the Orions, a doo-wop group. Young Joey followed in his father’s footsteps by forming a cappella group with his high school mates. A cherubic looking bloke with a charming smile on his face, Joey has had a long line of female fan following throughout his career, so much so that he has been romantically linked with the bombshell singer PINK! Joey put on his dancing shoes and made the world sit up and take note of his awesome moves, ultimately going on to grab the second spot on a popular dance reality show. Playing cameos and some character roles in movies, Joey Fatone has climbed the popularity ladder to gradually become a famous face on television as well. Childhood & Early Life

Joey Fatone was born on 28 January 1977 as Joseph Anthony Fatone Junior, in Brooklyn, New York, to Phyllis and Joe Fatone. His parents are of Italian descent. He has a sister called Janine and a brother called Steven.

Raised in the Brooklyn neighborhood of Bensonhurst, till he was 13, he moved to Florida after that and attended the Dr. Phillips High School there.

While still in school, Joey formed a music group called ‘The Big Guys’ with his friends, and Luis Fonsi, the Latin singer, was part of this group.

Career

Joey Fatone started working at the Universal Studios’ live Rock ‘n Roll show. This is where he met his soon to be band-mate Chris Kirkpatrick and the band NSNYC was formed in 1995.

Their eponymous debut album released in 1997 and peaked to the second position on Billboard 200, and has sold over 15 million copies since then.

NSYNC’s second album, No Strings Attached, released in 2000, and their last album, Celebrity, was released a year later.

NSYNC took a hiatus in 2002, but keep coming together occasionally, such as they reunited to perform at the MTV Music Awards in 2013 and to accept their Hollywood Walk of Fame star. Joey has been best friends with Lance Bass throughout all these years.

Along with being a singer Joey Fatone has worked in several films like Longshot (2000), On The Line (2001), My Big Fat Greek Wedding (2002), The Cooler (2003), Homie Spumoni (2006), My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 (2016), Dead 7 (2016), and Izzie’s Way Home (2016).

He has also done quite a bit of theatre. He has featured in plays such as Rent (2002), Little Shop of Horrors (2004), The Producers (2010), 42nd Street (2013), and Rock of Ages (2015).

In 2007, he participated and became the runners up in the fourth season of Dancing with the Stars.

His resume includes many appearances on television, including playing host in the show The Singing Bee’ for two seasons 2007-08 and 2008-09, Rewrapped (2014), Impractical Jokers: After Party since 2017, Common Knowledge since 2019. He was the ringmaster for Celebrity Circus in 2005 and announcer on the show Family Feud from 2010 to 2015.

Some other television programs Joey Fatone has been a part of are My Big Fat Greek Life in 2003, Shorty McShorts’ Shorts in 2006, one episode in Hannah Montana in 2008 and Celebrity Family Feud in 2017, and playing the role of Rabbit in The Masked Singer in 2019.

Being the baritone for NSYNC has pushed Joey Fatone into the limelight, getting him the exposure and the platform to showcase the talent he has. Although the boy band has released only three albums till now, NSYNC’s first album by the same name won them the ‘Internet Fans’ Artist of the Year, ‘Favourite Pop New Artist’ and ‘Favourite Pop Group’ award. Their second album No Strings Attached that came out on the 21 March 2000, set a record of highest one-week sales that was unbreakable till 15 years!

Joey Fatone showed his dancing prowess as a celebrity dancer in the fourth season of Dancing with the Stars. During the show he performed several dance forms like the rumba, foxtrot, waltz, jive, mambo, samba, tango and even the quickstep with his ballroom dancer partner Kym. The duo went on to become the runners up on the show, losing to Julianne Alexandra Hough and her dancing partner Apolo Anton Ohno.

Family & Personal Life

Joey Fatone had been dating Kelly Baldwin since 1993 from the time they were together in high school. After an on again off again relationship, their romance blossomed in 2000 and they had their first daughter, Briahna Joely, on 21st March 2001.

Joey and Kelly got engaged in 2002 and got married on 9 September 2004, in New York’s Oheka Castle located on Long Island. All the NSYNC boys were present for this ceremony.

The couple had their second child, a daughter named Kloey, in 2010 January, however, they separated a few years later and filed for a divorce in 2019.

Joey started dating current girlfriend Izabel Araujo, in 2014, and their first date was on Halloween, at Universal Studios.

He has founded a charity known as ‘the Fatone Family Foundation’.
