Jojo Tua is an American actor who gained stardom for his role of Michael Dishon in A&E Network’s documentary show ‘Cold Case Files’. He is also known for his appearances in the short films ‘Street Ships’, ‘Please, Just Smile’ and ‘The Deserted’. In addition, he has garnered immense popularity on social media by being a part of the Instagram group ‘Slightly Above Average’. Born in Silverdale, Washington, Tua developed a passion for acting right in his childhood and started performing as a kid. He kicked off his professional career through television commercials and eventually got roles in short movies and TV dramas. His talent is not limited to acting as Tua can dance as well. Career
Jojo Tua began his acting career through television commercials. In 2015, he appeared in the video short ‘Tinaj Sports Academy.’ A year later, he played the lead role of Joey Jones in a short film titled ‘Not Your Average Joe’. Written and directed by Dennis Larkin, the film is about a father of three whose wife tells everyone that he is a ‘cocksucker’ as their marriage fails. Unsure of his sexuality, he goes to a gay bar to discover if he really is what his wife claims.
In 2016, Tua also appeared in another short film ‘If Kids Were Grown-Ups’ as Deni. Directed and written by Victoria Goring, the film also featured Carson Goring, Ella Maio, Reilly Leibow and Journi P. McGee in lead roles. A year later, the actor starred as Michael Dishon in A&E Network’s documentary show ‘Cold Case Files’.
The year 2018 saw him playing Brodie in ‘Try to Smile’, a drama film about an African-American lady who struggles with a generational curse and later seeks relief from a psychologist. The film also starred Tua’s brother Mikey Tua along with other talented artists like Cameo Sherrell, Erica Denise Curry, Chuanda Mason, Sébastien Charmant and Morgan Parsons. That year, Tua also had a role in the short film ‘Street Ships’. The movie tells the story of two next-door neighbors whose imaginations grow with time and they eventually modify their cars into dangerous "Street Ships" as they hit the age of 16.
Besides these, the actor has also acted in the short films ‘The Deserted’ and ‘Please, Just Smile,’ the latter of which follows the story of a mother and winery owner who wishes to take a family picture for an article in a reputable magazine. During the photo session, her family’s tangled dysfunction attracts the spotlight, and the mother strives to keep her family from imploding.
