Jonathan Banks first performed on stage in 1974 before venturing into television as well. He then appeared in the 1976 drama series ‘Barnaby Jones’ as well as the TV film ‘The Macahans’. He then appeared in the movies ‘Coming Home’, ‘The Cheap Detective’, ‘Who'll Stop the Rain’, ‘The Rose’, ‘Airplane’ and ‘Stir Crazy’. In 1981, the actor was cast as Dutch Schultz in the drama ‘The Gangster Chronicles’. A year later, he did the movies ‘Frances’ and ‘48 Hrs’. Soon after this, he got featured in the series ‘Hill Street Blues’.

In 1984, Banks played Zack in the flick ‘Beverly Hills’. The following year, he played the character of Kommander Nuveen Kroll in the drama ‘Otherworld’. After this, he got featured in the TV series ‘Falcon Crest’ in 1987. The same year, he was cast as Frank McPike in the series ‘Wiseguy’.
