Julie Gonzalo is an Argentinian born American actress who is known for her memorable performances in films and television series. She started out as a model and moved to act-ing when she discovered her passion for the art. She has appeared in a number of inde-pendent films some of which have been very successful, such as ‘Waffle Street’. She has also appeared in some of the most popular television series like ‘Grey’s Anatomy’, ‘Castle’, ‘CSI:Miami’ and ‘Dallas’. Her Spanish film ‘Ladrón Que Roba a Ladrón’ set the record as the film that had the highest grossing opening weekend for any film in the Spanish language. Julie Gonzalo has been very outspoken about keeping it natural where beauty is concerned. She has a very prominent scar above the bridge of her nose which she got from a serious accident during her childhood. She has never attempted to hide that scar with makeup.

Career
Julie Gonzalo started acting from her high school days doing school plays. After graduat-ing from high school she became a model in Miami and appeared in national and interna-tional magazine advertisements. She was 18 or 19 years old when she realised that her passion lay in acting. She was living and working as a model in Milan, Italy when she decided to give up modelling and pursue acting. She moved to Los Angeles to follow her dream.
Julie Gonzalo was offered her first acting role when she was 20. She appeared in various television series like ‘Greetings from Tucson’ and ‘NCIS’. In 2003 she appeared in the film ‘Freaky Friday’ in which she worked with actress Jamie Lee Curtis. This was followed the next year by ‘A Cinderella Story.’ A steady stream of film releases continued which included the comedy ‘Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story’ in 2004. In 2005 she acted in the hit film ‘Must Love Dogs’ with actors such as Diane Lane, John Cusack and Christopher Plummer.
As she speaks Spanish fluently, Gonzalo was offered the role of Gloria in the Spanish film ‘Ladrón Que Roba a Ladrón’ which was released in 2007. Gonzalo received top billing for the film which turned out to be hugely successful.
In 2007, she also turned to film production with the short film ‘Silent Night’. She produced the film and also acted in it. Shortly afterwards in 2009, she produced another short film ‘Pink Eye’. Both the shorts were well received by the audiences.
In 2008 Julie Gonzalo won the ‘ALMA award’ for ‘Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Television Series’ for the role of Maggie Dekker in the series ‘Eli Stone’. Gonzalo has said that this has been one of her favourite roles.
From 2008 onwards Julie Gonzalo appeared in several television shows such as ‘Castle’, ‘Nikita’, ‘The Glades’, ‘Mobsters’ and ‘Dallas’.
Julie Gonzalo has also acted in many Hallmark romances like ‘The Sweetest Heart’, ‘Falling for Vermont’ and ‘Pumpkin Pie Wars’. Talking of why she loves being part of the Hallmark films she says that the roles are very empowering and the way the women are portrayed in these films is beautiful and inspiring.
In 2018, she appeared in an episode of the longest running television series ‘Grey’s Anatomy’.
Gonzalo has stated that she is a very proud Hispanic and is waiting to play more Latino roles.
