Birth & Early Life
Justin was born on April 21, 1987, in the US. Unfortunately, not much information is available about his childhood days. He was unaware of his father’s identity until he turned 19. Justin has never talked about his mother. Years later, a DNA test revealed the identity of Justin’s biological father, professional boxer Floyd Mayweather Sr. With this revelation, Justin became part of the Mayweather dynasty, which also includes boxing greats Roger and Jeff Mayweather.
Before the revelation of Justin’s father’s identity, Justin was officially known as Justin Jones. After the DNA test, which was conducted sometime in 2017, he adopted the surname “Mayweather” as his middle name. The revelation made Justin the younger half-brother of Floyd Joy Mayweather Jr. and the stepson of Deborah Sinclair.
Career
Justin grew up with an interest in boxing. He had begun professional training much before knowing the identity of his father. Justin considers boxing legend Mike Tyson his source of inspiration. Since the time he stepped into the boxing ring, he has been following Tyson’s boxing style. Later, Justin began training under Floyd Sr. However, he was not trained by his uncles Roger and Jeff, unlike Floyd Jr., who has trained under both of them.
Justin made his boxing debut in 2013. He fought against Rick Ogden at the 'Fifth Third Ballpark,' Grand Rapids, and registered a victory with a final score of 0–2–0. Before that, he had fought as an amateur and had also won the 152-pound novice level at the 'Michigan Golden Gloves Tournament.' After his professional debut, Justin took a break and returned to the ring in 2016.
Meanwhile, in May 2014, Justin continued his training in Las Vegas. One of his uncles, Roger Mayweather, a former professional boxer and a boxing analyst, showed immense confidence in Justin. He also made an impetuous statement regarding Justin’s potential and called him “A champion-in-waiting.”
In 2016, Justin made his ‘Billar El Perro Salado,’ Tijuana debut against Albert Lee III and won the match. The 'Borizteca Boxing Management Group' confirmed Justin’s participation in the 'Young Guns' at the ‘Salon Mezzanine’ in Tijuana. The match was held on February 26, 2016. He won the match against Alfred Tisdale Jr. On April 13, 2018, Justin fought against Luis Ernesto Granados, at ‘Gimnasio Municipal Jose Neri Santos,' Ciudad Juárez. His next fight will be at 'DeltaPlex,' Grand Rapids, on February 23, 2019. Justin’s opponent for the match is yet to be announced.
Justin currently lives in Grand Rapids, Michigan, US. However, his coach, Floyd Sr. wants him to return to Vegas and receive full-time training under him. Moreover, Floyd Sr. had never wanted to make his career in Grand Rapids, as he had never liked the way the promoters work there. He always wished to go to the West Coast and he wants the same for Justin.
Justin is currently a welterweight (147 pounds). However, for his first professional fight, Justin weighed at 151 pounds. Justin has been trained under former boxer and present member of 'USA Boxing' Larry Nicholson. He also acknowledges the contributions of Adam Mayweather and Johnny Battles to the initial success in his career.
Apart from spending hours in the boxing ring, Justin also spends time vlogging. He owns a 'YouTube' channel titled 'The Justin Mayweather Show.' The channel hosts a series of videos that feature Justin discussing various aspects of life. The video segment also chronicles his experiences from his childhood days and his trysts in the boxing ring. The channel also hosts video footages from his training sessions.
