Kayla Sims Bio

Kayla Maria Sims was born on August 14, 1999, in Chicago, Illinois, United States of America. At the age of six, Kayla and her family moved to Orlando, Florida. She was raised along with her younger siblings, Shanna and Brett. As a kid, Kayla used to play soccer for a local soccer team. She did not have a lot of friends during her middle school days. To add to her woes, her father suffered from multiple myeloma, which is also called Kahler’s disease, during her growing up years. Owing to her family situation, Kayla had to stay with her grandparents for a few years, during which she started playing ‘The Sims.’ After reaching high school, Kayla became part of the cheerleading team, but couldn’t stay there for a long period of time. Around this time, she created her YouTube channel and started uploading content related to ‘The Sims.’ After graduating high school, Kayla joined the University of Central Florida in 2017. During her freshman year, she lived in a dorm along with her roommates. Though she had earlier selected digital media as her major, she later changed it to history.

A couple of years after posting her first video on YouTube, Kayla Sims understood the art of gathering subscribers. With subscribers came views and Kayla had already become a notable YouTuber, at least among people who love the life simulation game series ‘The Sims.’ At present, her channel has over 1.86 million subscribers and 721 million views from all its videos. Apart from posting videos related to the game series, Kayla also posts vlogs, reaction videos, and other kinds of videos to keep her viewers interested. She created another channel under the name ‘moresimsie’ where she streams Sims content for over 402k subscribers. The success of her channels encouraged her to create another channel, which she did on March 31, 2017. Named as ‘Hey Simsie! Podcast,’ Kayla’s second channel has managed to gather around 23,000 subscribers. In April 2021, she launched her fourth channel ‘lilsimsie shorts.’ While the channel does not host any content, it still has the support of over 11.3k subscribers.

With more than 750,000 followers, Kayla Sims is also popular on Twitch, where she streams videos almost every single day. Kayla is active on Twitter and Instagram as well, where she has over 263,000 and 295,000 followers respectively. She is also known for uploading podcasts on platforms, such as SoundCloud and iTunes. With a decent number of followers across various social media platforms, Kayla Sims is already an important internet star, who is set to achieve much more in the virtual world. In 2018, she narrowly missed winning the prestigious ‘Streamer of the Year’ award. She has also participated in various charity fundraisers and has raised funds for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Transgender Law Center, and The AbleGamers Foundation.

Interestingly, many of Kayla Sims’ fans had assumed that she had come up with her last name because of her love for ‘The Sims.’ However, Kayla later clarified by saying that ‘Sims’ is actually her last name and that her love for the game does not have anything to do with her name. Kayla’s family consists of herself, her siblings, and her parents. The family owns three dogs, three cats, bunnies, turtles, and birds. Kayla currently stays in Orlando, Florida, where she has rented an apartment along with her friend Jill. However, her friend later moved out. In 2021, she married her long-term boyfriend Duckdan who is also a popular Twitch streamer.
