Kelli Berglund Biography

Though no one in her family had ever been into acting, Kelli was brought up as a danseuse and quite fortuitously started her journey towards stardom when a talent scout, who was in the audience, picked her up from a dance performance. She was only 9 at that time. After a few commercials, she made her first screen appearance in 2006 as an actress in the indie short film ‘Bye Bye Benjamin’. Then in the same year and the next, she appeared as a regular in TLC’s TV series Hip Hop Harry, a musical where it was her dancing talent that helped her bag the role. As for taking up a career in acting, 2006 was decisive when she screen tested for a film called ‘The Game Plan’ along with two other girls. Although she did not bag the role, she got an opportunity to act alongside The Rock (Dwayne Johnson) and realized she loved acting. She then decided to do whatever it takes to become a top actress. Then followed years of disappointment as she appeared for several auditions for Disney but failed to get booked. Finally, she clinched the role of Bree in 2012 when she was 16 years old although the casting director had initially told her that he did not see her as a Disney actress. The TV series went on to become a hit and ran for four seasons to be followed up with a sequel – something that Disney rarely does. Kelli has never looked back since bagging a series of diverse TV and movie roles after that over the last four years. Today, she is considered to have one of the “freshest faces” in the industry and the "one to watch" in both the entertainment and fashion industries. Her latest movie ‘A Christmas of Many Colors: Circle of Love’, the sequel to the 2015 smash hit ‘A Coat Of Many Colors’, a biopic based on the life of Dolly Parton, is now in the post production stage.

Her acting career almost never took off with rejection after rejection but she refused to give up. Her hard work and perseverance ultimately paid off once she bagged the dream role of Bree. Since then apart from her excellent comic timing in ‘Lab Rats’, she has done more emotional acting in films like ‘Raising the Bar’ while giving expression to her creativity through her involvement with the fashion industry. She is certainly charming and very amiable, but it’s her ability to remain grounded and work hard that has helped her attract a huge fan base. She cares for her fans and deals with them with honesty and genuine empathy. But ultimately, it is her extremely grounded approach to life that makes her special. As she says “I look up to people like Selena Gomez, who has kept a really good head on her shoulders,” emphasizing how well she realizes not to let fame get to her head.

Kelli is a great dancer specializing in lyrical contemporary and jazz. Through her fashion line she has also given expression to her creativity. Also as part of the line-up for Disney Channel’s Circle of Stars 2014, she has featured as a singer for a cover version of “Do you want to build a snowman” from the film ‘Frozen’. Apart from her involvement with fashion and entertainment and despite her fame and extremely busy schedule, for the last several years Berglund has found time to work for the welfare of suspected victims of child abuse. Together with the Audrey Hepburn C.A.R.E.S Team and the Children's Hospital Los Angeles, she has made a big difference to the lives of many children.

Kelli lives with her happily married parents Mark and Michelle and her younger sister Kirra who also happens to be an amazing dancer. She graduated from the Moorpark High School, California. The actress has been in relationships with Spencer Boldman (2012-13), Noah Centineo (2013-14) and Sterling Beaumon (2014-15). Since her break-up with Beaumon, she has been friendly with Tyler Wilson with rumours that she has been dating him. But Kelli hasn’t clearly confirmed this yet.
