Kid Lucas was present on various social media platforms before he got famous on Vine where he amassed over 400,000 followers before the app was shut down. However, once he shifted to the looping video sharing platform, he earned recognition due to the fact that he can rap in both English and French. He mostly posted short funny videos and raps which made him very popular. While he had his YouTube account since July 2011, he posted his first music video on YouTube on August 1, 2013. He has earned over 460,000 subscribers on his YouTube channel. He created music as part of the group Diamondz, as well as independently, after the group broke up. Post his Vine fame, his Instagram profile blew up as he reached over 1 million followers within a very short period of time. He currently has over 1.3 million followers on his Instagram.

Lucas Coly aka Kid Lucas was born on July 8, 1997, in France. He has a mixed racial heritage; his father is a West African man born in Senegal, while his mother is a white woman born in France. When he was about eight years old, his family moved to Texas, USA, where he stayed for about two years. He has a younger brother who is about ten years younger to him. He used to visit his maternal grandparents every summer initially. They later moved to Detroit where he spent most of his school days. Coly, who struggled with grades at school, moved to San Francisco with his parents after barely completing his graduation. He can fluently speak French, which can be seen in some of his videos. According to him, his parents not only listen to his music, but also fully support his goals in music. He has been good friends with his former band mate Dillyn Troy and the two reportedly were roommates in Atlanta. However, they grew apart after the group disbanded. In February 2017, he was detained during a free meet and greet for disruptive conduct as his fan overflowed a shopping mall. He was subsequently banned from Lenox Square in Atlanta for two years. Kid Lucas currently lives in Las Vegas.

Kid Lucas is in a relationship with YouTuber and Instagram star Amber H. The two first met via Instagram in November 2015. She previously followed him for a while when he was not a star, but later un-followed him. However, his profile showed up again on her explore tab on Instagram around that time. She checked his profile again, and seeing how popular he had become, sent him a DM. He, in response, checked her profile and messaged her back. The two immediately bonded and have kept interacting every day ever since. They later met in person and began dating, and eventually started living together.

While he doesn't always stay in one place, she accompanies him everywhere, even to his outings with his male friends, which has attracted criticism from some of his fans. Both of them appear on each other's Instagram pictures, as well as YouTube videos. Amber, who had been uploading beauty and makeup videos on YouTube, aspires to be like the YouTube couple from the channel De'arra & Ken 4 Life. As such, he makes regular appearances on her eponymous YouTube channel for vlogs and various other types of videos. She recently appeared on the music video of one of his songs.
