Tom Stanniland is a popular face on the social media platforms and has a very powerful presence on the internet. He started his YouTube channel Kill'em on August 6, 2014, but did not upload a video until September 23, 2014. In the next one-and-a-half years, he uploaded only three more videos. It was only in 2016 that he became more active and started uploading videos regularly. Once he began posting frequently, it did not take him much time to gain popularity.

The content of the channel has been liked widely by his fans and viewers. The channel has garnered more than 2.5 million subscribers, with over 280 million views, as of September 2018. Many of his videos have crossed the 1 million mark, including ‘I Bought a Mystery Box from Dark Web & It Was Scariest Thing I’ve Ever Done (Deep Web Challenge)’ with over 5.7 million views; ‘I Bought a $1500 Mystery Safe at an Auction & You Won’t Believe What I Found…’ with 3.9 million views; ‘I Played Fortnite for 100 Hours Straight & You Have to See What Happened! (Battle Royale Challenge)’ with 8.8 million views; and ‘I Buried Myself Alive on the Beach and It Went Incredibly Wrong (Buried Alive Challenge)’ with 4.9 million views.

Kill'em FTW has been criticized for some of his videos. On September 24, 2017, YouTube team H3h3Productions uploaded a video on their channel, criticising some of Kill'em’s video challenges. At that time, he used to upload videos of ostensibly mailing himself to other countries, which, H3h3 mentioned, was impossible to achieve. H3h3 also denounced Kill'em FTW for using clickbaits in these videos. However, despite receiving some hate mails, Kill’em largely remained unaffected by these criticisms.

Tom Stanniland was born on March 22, 1990, in Worksop, England. He is an only child. He dropped out of high school at the age of 16 and worked in construction for around ten years. He refers to his girlfriend by the name “Moon.”
