Ambitious to take her career to greater heights, she moved to Los Angeles in 2012. With time she earned much success as a sports journalist which gained her national fame. She enjoyed even greater popularity after becoming the sideline reporter for ‘American Ninja Warrior’ on NBC. Her performance in this capacity brought her to the notice of former ESPN Radio host Colin Cowherd who offered her a job on his new show. Controversies & Scandals
Kristine Leahy is a much respected figure in sports journalism and she is not someone to get involved in needless controversies. However, in May 2017, she became the subject of considerable media interest when she was publically disrespected by Lavar Ball, the father of top NBA prospect Lonzo Ball and the owner of the sportswear company Big Baller Brand. Lavar Ball had appeared on ‘The Herd with Colin Cowherd’ radio show where he was being interviewed by Cowherd. In the midst of the ongoing interview, Leahy asked Ball a question about his sporting brand to which he replied very arrogantly, without even looking at her. He also hurled disrespectful words at her and even threatened her, all in front of the camera, in full view of the shocked crew and audience. Leahy, being the calm professional that she is, managed the situation with dignity. However, this incident definitely marred the reputation of Lavar Ball by revealing him to be a sexist and arrogant man.
