Lady Colin Campbell Biography

Before she became a writer, Lady Colin Campbell worked as a model. She then worked at the famous store Harrods for a while.

Lady C as she is popularly known shot to stardom with her book, Diana in Private: The Princess Nobody Knows which came out in 1992. The book revealed Diana’s health issues and her unhappy marital life. Campbell’s source was a close common friend of hers and Princess Diana’s. The book became the first to reveal these facts and made it to the New York Times Best Seller list.

This book was followed in 1993 by another on the Royal family’s titled The Royal Marriages: What Really goes on in the Private World of the Queen and her Family. In this book, she speculates about why some of the fairytale royal marriages failed.

In 1997 Lady Colin Campbell published her autobiography named A Life Worth Living. She penned another autobiography in 2009 titled Daughter of Narcissus: A Family’s Struggle to Survive their Mother’s Narcissistic Personality Disorder where she talked about the psychological trauma of growing up with a narcissistic mother.

In 2005, Lady Campbell came out with her first novel, Empress Bianca. The book came under legal threat when billionaire socialite Lily Safra claimed that it was defamatory and the novel was simply a guise for revealing salacious facts. The publishers acted by quickly removing the book from bookstores. In 2008 it was re-published in the United States with some changes.

2012 saw the publication of yet another book on the British royal family titled The Untold Life of Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother. The book came under a lot of criticism for the claims it made regarding the Queen Mother’s parentage.

In 2015, Lady Campbell participated in the survival reality show called I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! She was labelled “TV Gold” as she slowly decimated the rest of the contestants. However, she quit the show before the end saying that she felt bullied.

Apart from writing and appearing on TV, Lady Colin Campbell is also an entrepreneur of sorts. In 2013, she purchased Goring Castle, a Grade I listed country house. She has since renovated the castle and lets it out as a wedding venue. The 2016 documentary titled Lady C and the Castle shows how she transformed the broken down castle to what it is today.

With Meghan Markle entering the royal household Lady Campbell found a new subject to talk about. In 2020 she published Meghan and Harry: The Real Story. The book was based on sources like the royal insiders and well-connected friends. The book which created ripples just like her earlier books paints Meghan Markle as forceful and ambitious and Prince Harry as passive.

Lady C has been called out for speaking for Prince Andrew after his infamous interview on the Jeffrey Epstein case. She however claims that her quote was taken out of context and her interview had been cut short.

Before she took on the title of Lady Colin Campbell, she was called Georgia Arianna Ziadie. She was born on 17th August 1949, in Jamaica. Her parents, Michael George Ziadie and Gloria Dey, had three other children. Hers was a wealthy trading family and her father owned a departmental store.

Due to a defect at birth, the doctors suggested that she be raised as a boy and so she was named George. She lived the first 21 years of her life as a boy. Around this time she joined the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York and started modelling.

It was when her grandmother discovered the truth about her sexuality that Lady C got the money to have corrective surgery. After the surgery she got a new birth certificate and changed her name to Georgia.

She met Lord Colin Ivar Campbell, the younger son of the Duke of Argyll, in March 1974 and five days later she married him. The marriage was short-lived but she continued to use the title. Her former husband has expressed his anger at the fact that though separated from him she retains the title.

Lady Colin Campbell has two adopted sons—Russian boys named Michael and Dmitri.
