Larry Manetti is an American actor, who is best known for his portrayal of Orville Wilbur Wright on the TV series ‘Magnum, P.I.’. Manetti was born in Chicago, where he also studied acting. His first role on television was seen in the TV series ‘Chase’, where he portrayed a young detective. Throughout his career, he has appeared in several films, some of them include ‘CIA II: Target Alexa’, ‘Top of the World’, and ‘Sinatra Club’. His works on television include ‘Baa Baa Black Sheep’, ‘Magnum PI’, and 1) ‘Hawaii Five-0’. Other than his work in TV and movies, he is also the author of a semi-autographical book ‘Aloha Magnum’, which mostly revolves around his time with the TV series ‘Magnum, PI’.

Career
Larry Manetti’s began his work with TV show ‘Starsky & Hutch’, where he played a guest role. Between 1976 and 1978, he appeared in the period military drama ‘Baa Baa Black Sheep’, where he played the role of 1st Lieutenant Robert Boyle. The series revolved around Greg Boyington, who fought in the World War II, with his squad which was known as ‘Black Sheep Squadron’.
His first works on the big screen were ‘Two-Minute Warning’ in 1976 and ‘Sudden Death’ in 1977. Between 1978 and 1979, he appeared in another TV series ‘Battlestar Galactica’. Between 1980 and 1988, he played one of the main roles in the crime drama series ‘Magnum, PI’. It gained a lot of popularity and was ranked as one of the top twenty TV shows in the US at that time. The story revolved around a private detective named Thomas Sullivan Magnum, who was portrayed by Tom Selleck. The show was nominated for thirteen Golden Globe Awards, out of which it won two. It was nominated for a total of nineteen Emmy awards as well, and winning two.
In 1993, he appeared in the thriller film ‘Snapdragon’. The story revolves around two men who were killed while watching TV, after which Sergeant Peckham is assigned to investigate the case. It was the debut film of well-known Canadian actress Pamela Anderson. The same year, he also appeared in the action drama film ‘CIA II: Target Alexa’, which was directed by Lorenzo Lamas. He also appeared in two TV shows ‘Street Justice’ and ‘Quantum Leap’.
The next year, he had a role in the thriller film ‘Fatal Pursuit’. The movie was about a private detective and a good-looking female insurance investigator who search for stolen diamonds. He was next seen in the 1997 film ‘Top of the World’. It was directed by Sidney J Furie.
In 1998, he appeared in two movies. He appeared in ‘Scar City’, which was about a young cop who gets thrown in with a special squad of the police, acting as assassins. He next appeared in the film ‘Hijack’. It was about a prestigious senator, who along with the passengers who are on board a train, are kidnapped by a group of militias. Both the movies were met with negative reviews. He continued to appear in a number of movies over the years, such as ‘No Tomorrow’ (1999), ‘The Alternate’ (2000), ‘Random Acts’ (2001), and ‘Sinatra Club’ (2010).
Between 2013 and 2016, he appeared in the TV show ‘Hawaii Five-0 ‘, an American police procedural action series. In 2019, he was seen in ‘Magnum P.I.’, which is a reboot of the 1980 series of the same name. The series started airing in September 2018.
