Leslie Mann was born on 26 March 1972, in San Francisco, California, USA, to single mother Janet Mann. Her father had left her mother before she was born and she does not know him at all. Mann’s mother Janet, who worked as a real estate agent, raised her.

The family moved to Newport Beach, California at some point during her childhood. Leslie Mann grew up in Newport Beach. She studied at the ‘Corona del Mar High School’ in Newport Beach where she developed an interest in acting. In fact, she started attending auditions while she was still in school.

Leslie Mann decided against continuing with her college education since she had decided to pursue a career in acting following her appearance in commercials for brands like ‘Coke’ when she was still a teenager. She had also joined the ‘Joanne Baron Studio’ in order to study acting. She learned acting from the comedy troupe ‘The Groundlings.’

Leslie Mann had started auditioning for roles in movies. In the year 1995, she got her first big break when the casting directors of the film ‘The Cable Guy’ chose her from hundreds of candidates for the role of the female lead. The following year, she starred in the movie ‘George of the Jungle’ in a minor role.
