Lilan Bowden is an American actor and comedian. She is best known for her portrayal of ‘Bex’ in the ‘Disney’ TV series ‘Andi Mack.’ As a kid, Bowden displayed a keen interest in stage performances. She was an active member of her high-school comedy club and thoroughly enjoyed making people laugh. After graduating from high school, she joined the sketch-comedy group ‘Upright Citizens Brigade.’ After her debut on TV, Bowden was confined to small roles for a long time. It was the character of ‘Bex’ that gave her the much-needed break. This character helped her grab the attention of viewers. Bowden is a writer, too, and has written for several comedy shows and short films.

Lilan Bowden was born on September 1, 1985, in Castro Valley, California, to a Taiwanese mother and an American father. She has a brother. Bowden attended the ‘Castro Valley High School.’ While in high school, she attended the school’s “improv” and comedy clubs regularly. Bowden graduated in 2002.
Bowden then attended the ‘University of California,’ where she remained active in comedy clubs. Later, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue her dreams of venturing into Hollywood.

Career
Lilan Bowden started her career as a comedian with the “improv” and sketch comedy group ‘Upright Citizens Brigade.’ She appeared on several comedy shows during her association with the group. Bowden also performed with her best friend and comedy partner, Wilder Smith. Together, they created sketch-comedy videos for the series ‘Lilan and Wilder.’
Bowden acted in a few comic videos for the comedy video website ‘funny or die.com.’ She also worked as a writer for several shows streamed on this website.
In 2007, Lilan Bowden made her TV debut with the series ‘Gullible Gil.’ She played ‘Jane’ in four episodes of the series. In 2011, Bowden played ‘Myrah’ in the TV movie ‘Zombie Apocalypse.’ It was a horror movie directed by Nick Lyon. Bowden also performed in several episodes of the TV show ‘UCB Comedy Originals.’
In 2008, Bowden bagged her first movie role. She played ‘Risa Reagan’ in the movie ‘Sex and the USA.’ However, Bowden failed to make a mark in the entertainment industry for a long time. She played guest roles in shows such as ‘Hart of Dixie,’ ‘Suburgatory,’ ‘Parks and Recreation,’ and ‘Adam Ruins Everything.’ In 2015, Bowden starred in four episodes of ‘CollegeHumor Originals.’
In 2017, Lilan Bowden got the big break of her career when she was offered the role of ‘Rebecca “Bex” Mack’ in the TV series ‘Andi Mack.’ The comedy–drama series is currently being telecast on ‘Disney’ network. The series features Bowden as ‘Bex,’ the mother of the protagonist, ‘Andi.’ ‘Bex’ is a young mother, and is initially portrayed as ‘Andi’s’ sister. Later, ‘Andi’ discovers that ‘Bex’ is actually her mother. ‘Andi Mack’ has been received well by viewers. The show has been renewed for its second and third seasons. Bowden’s portrayal of ‘Bex’ has helped her create a name for herself in the entertainment industry.
In 2018, Bowden played ‘Athena’ in the action–comedy movie ‘The Odd Essay.’ The film is a modern version of ‘The Odyssey,’ set on a college campus.
The comedy series ‘Lilan and Wilder,’ consisting of videos featuring Bowden and Wilder together, is immensely successful, too. Their videos appear on their ‘YouTube’ channel and on their website.
