Logan Williams was a Canadian actor who was rose to fame for his role in the American superhero television series, The Flash. Williams got interested in acting in films as a child when a film casting agent saw him and commented that he could be in films. He started auditioning and landed roles in television. At the age of 10, he was selected to play the role of young Barry Allen in The Flash. At 13, Logan Williams took a break from acting and auditioning. Unfortunately, he got into substance abuse and died of an opioid overdose at the age of 16.

Career

When Logan Williams was around 9 years old, a casting agent from Los Angeles stopped him at a mall where he was shopping with his mother and said that he could become an actor. The young boy was taken up with the idea while his parents thought that it was just a fancy and would pass. When he persisted saying he could handle the competitive field, his mother signed him up with an agency.

After this point auditioning became part and parcel of his childhood. He started getting offers and his acting career took off with the role of Jack in the 2014 TV movie The Colour of Rain. In the next couple of years, he worked for TV series such as The Whispers (2015) When Calls the Heart (2014-2016) and Supernatural (2015).

Logan Williams became a household name when he played the younger version of Barry Allen in the first two seasons of the popular TV show, The Flash, in 2014 and 2015.

Grant Gustin who played the adult Barry Allen remembers Logan Williams as a very committed and professional child artist on the sets who enjoyed the craft of acting.

Awards & Recognitions

In 2014 Williams was nominated for Joey Award, Vancouver in the Young Actor Category for his role in When Calls the Heart.

He was also nominated for the UBCP Awards, Vancouver in 2015 as the Best Emerging Performer for The Flash.

Family & Personal Life

Logan Williams was born on April 9, 2003, in Vancouver, Canada, to Marlyse Williams and Clive Williams. He is of Swiss and South African descent. His mother is a sales representative in a dental a company. He went to the Hope Lutheran School and Terry Fox Secondary in Port Coquitlam.

During his acting career, Logan Williams juggled his schoolwork, auditions and acting commitments. At the age of 13, tired of the hundreds of auditions Logan Williams decided to take a break.

It was during that time that his mother discovered that he was addicted to marijuana, this was followed by other deadlier substances. His mother remortgaged her home to send him to a rehabilitation facility in the USA, all the while keeping his struggle with drugs a secret, fearing stigma and judgement.

Death

Logan Williams himself was deeply ashamed of his addiction but was quite helpless and the addiction continued. He spent a month at a de-addiction centre in British Columbia. It was while living in a group home at Port Coquitlam that he overdosed on Fentanyl. He died on April 2, 2020, a few days short of his 17th birthday.
