Career

Before Lucy Pargeter became a soap star, she was a part of a girl’s pop band – ‘Paperdolls’ – along with Debbie Cresswell and Hollie Johnson. Back then they supported another band, ‘Boyzone’ and even went on a tour with them. However, things did not particularly go in their favour. They released their debut single, ‘Gonna Make You Blush’ in 1998 but it failed to impress the listeners and show up in the top 40 songs chart. The song was their only work together and after a couple of years, the band broke up with all three going their separate ways.

The 1990s also saw her making television and movie appearances in small roles and single/few episodes. In 1996 and 1997 respectively, she featured in a TV series ‘Soldier Soldier’ and a miniseries ‘The Locksmith’. In 1996, she was also seen in a TV movie ‘The Bare Necessities’.

In the year 2000, she appeared in few episodes of ‘Brand Spanking New Show’, a sketch comedy television series. In 2002, she acted in a couple of episodes of crime and mystery drama series, ‘Dalziel and Pascoe’ and a movie ‘Anita & Me’. The same year also brought with it a role for which she was widely appreciated. She played the character of Helen Raven in the British television drama series ‘Crossroads’ in 2002- 2003.

In 2002, she also landed the role of ‘Chas Dingle’ in ‘Emmerdale’ that made her into a soap star. The show which began in 1972 and was known as ‘Emmerdale Farm’ till the late 1980s, is still running in ITV region. For her performance in the show, she was awarded the Best Actress Award at the 2019 ‘British Soap Awards’.

Apart from acting, Lucy Pargeter also participated in numerous reality game shows, talent shows and singing contests. Very early in her career, she participated in the British talent series, ‘Stars in Their Eyes’ in which she played the part of English actress and singer, Emma Bunton.

In 2006, she took part in a reality singing competition, ‘Soapstar Superstar’ and in 2013, she joined nine other celebrities to compete in the 13th edition of British adventure reality series, ‘I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!’. In both these competitions, she finished third.

In between, she also appeared alongside her ‘Emmerdale’ co actor, Danny Miller in a celebrity edition of ‘Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?’. She also participated in game shows like ‘Celebrity Chase’, ‘Big Star's Little Star’ to win some prize amount for her selected charity.

Lucy Pargeter was born to Trevor and Susan Pargeter on March 1st 1977 in Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, England. She was named Lucy Kate Pargeter and she was the younger daughter of the couple, the older one being Saffron Jane Pargeter. Her paternal grandparents include Frank and Norah Pargeter whereas her maternal grandparents include Charles and Grace Surrage.

She went to New College in Nottingham for her studies and joined Central Junior Television Workshop to improve her acting skills. Her family bred horses and show ponies because of which she started riding at a very young age and is hence a very good horse rider.

Recently, in 2019, Lucy split up from her long-time partner, Rudi Coleano, with whom she has three daughters. She was blessed with a daughter, Lola Coleano, in 2005 and in 2017 her twin daughters – Betsy Maggie and Missy Mabel - came into this world through IVF. She went on a maternity leaves both times she was pregnant and resumed working only few months after her babies were born. Rudi Coleano and Lucy were engaged for twelve years and even came close to tying knot in 2012; however, it eventually did not happen. Though the couple has split, their primary concern remains raising their daughters and giving them a good life.
