Lynda Bird Johnson Robb is an American editor, public servant, and former First Lady of the US state of Virginia. She was the chairwoman of the Board of Reading is Fundamental, the country's largest children's literacy organization, as well as the chairwoman of the President's Advisory Committee for Women. Originally from Washington, D.C., Johnson Robb is the daughter of the former US President Lyndon B. Johnson and First Lady Claudia Alta “Lady Bird” Johnson. She is the wife of former Governor of Virginia, Chuck Robb, who was in the office between 1982 and 1986. Before marrying Robb, she dated actor George Hamilton and was engaged to Bernard Rosenbach. After studying at National Cathedral School for Girls, she enrolled at the University of Texas at Austin and eventually earned her B.A. degree from there in 1966. In 1979, she was made the chairwoman of the President's Advisory Committee for Women by President Jimmy Carter and chaired the Board of Reading is Fundamental between 1996 and 2001. For her public service, Johnson Robb has received numerous civic awards and an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters from Washington and Lee University and Norwich University.
