Marillyn Adams Hewson is an American executive who serves as the chairwoman, president and chief executive officer of Lockheed Martin. A native of Kansas, Hewson witnessed her single mother’s financial struggles to raise her and her siblings. She obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration and later a Master of Arts degree in economics from the University of Alabama. She was also educated at the Columbia Business School and Harvard Business School executive development programs. Hewson began her tenure at Lockheed Martin in 1983. In the ensuing years, she served as the executive vice president of Lockheed Martin's Electronic Systems business area, president of Lockheed Martin Systems Integration, executive vice president of Global Sustainment for Lockheed Martin Aeronautics, president and general manager of Kelly Aviation Center, L.P., and president of Lockheed Martin Logistics Services before becoming a member of the board of directors of the company in late 2012. A couple of months later, she was appointed CEO. Under her leadership, Lockheed Martin has experienced significant growth. As a result, Hewson has received several accolades, including the Edison Achievement Award in 2018.
