Marlin Ramsey Chan Bio

Marlin Ramsey Chan is a popular YouTube star who has gained immense popularity on the social media. Though he might be all in the rage today, Marlin has had humble beginnings. Inspired by Ryan Higa, he first entered the world of YouTube in February 2011 with his self-titled channel. Initially, Marlin posted a couple of videos that garnered him some viewership and subscribers but nothing more than that. It was in 2012 that Marlin got a breakthrough in his career when he participated in the first season of YouTuber Ryan Higa’s comedy video-making talent show ‘Internet Icon’. Aired on YOMYOMF YouTube channel, the contestants in the show were supposed to make different types of videos. They were given different types of challenges at various levels. Marlin competed against fellow YouTuber Lana McKissack. Though Marlin did not win the reality show, he did gain prominence. It was due to his participation in the show that his YouTube channel received a huge influx of subscribers. Thereafter, Marlin participated in the second season of the ‘Internet Icon’ show but could not go beyond the Top 100 contestants.

Following his reality show trysts, Marlin became a regular on his YouTube channel, uploading videos and vlogs daily. Most of the videos posted on his YouTube channel are themed on comedy, cookery, and challenges. His most popular video till date has been the ‘Pancake Art Challenge Ft. Alex Burriss, Laurdiy, and Lazyron’ which was uploaded in November 2015. The video gained more than a million views from people across the globe. Occasionally, Marlin collaborates with other fellow YouTubers creating videos with them for his channel. He has even been featured in the videos of other YouTubers such as Roi Fabito (Guava juice) and Alex Burriss. Marlin’s YouTube channel has more than 1.7 million subscribers with an average of 3000 more subscriptions per day. In addition to YouTube, Marlin is active on other social media platforms as well, such as Instagram and Twitter. Other than this, Marlin has his own line of clothing which he sells online.

Marlin Ramsey Chan was born on October 7, 1993 in Stockton, California to Mareth Chan and Tha Sok. His parents were originally from Cambodia. Much before Marlin was born, his parents used to stay and work in the Cambodian labor camps. They had a daughter who died out of malnutrition. During the time of war, Marlin’s mother Tha Sok escaped to America and started living in Stockton with her mother. She was separated from her husband Chan who settled in South California. Circumstances were such that both were unaware of the other being alive. It was only in 1992 that Chan came to know from his other relatives in the USA that Tha Sok was alive. Eighteen years later, the couple reunited. It was after this unison that Marlin was born. Since an early age, Marlin recognized the hardships that his parents went through and became sincere in his life and career. The Chans are one-close-knit family and are extremely attached to one another. Talking of Marlin’s love life, it is speculated that he possibly had a girlfriend in the past, though not much is known of her. In 2012, in one of his videos, he talked about his experience with his girlfriend. In 2016, Marlin confirmed that he had broken up with his girlfriend but refused to give in her details. Currently, Marlin is single and not in a romantic relationship with anyone.
