Mary Kate Wiles Biography

As a child, Mary was trained in dance and music. While in high school, she developed an interest in acting and decided to become an actor.

After Mary completed school, she auditioned for the American comedy web series 'Squaresville.' She bagged the lead role of ‘Zelda.’ This was the beginning of her career as an actor. The series premiered on 'YouTube' on March 16, 2012. Before this, Mary had worked as a theater actor in a few stage productions. She has also appeared as ‘Jean’ in 'Brigadoon,' as “the nurse” in 'Hello Again,' and as ‘Poopsie’ in 'The Pajama Game.' Mary was also part of two professional productions. Soon, she played the role of ‘Alicia Larch’ in 'Dark Woods' and then appeared in the 2011 stage production of 'Anne of Green Gables.' In 2012, she played ‘Lily Blush’ in the independent feature 'Dreamworld.' The same year, Mary was cast in the American web series 'The Lizzie Bennet Diaries,' a modern adaptation of Jane Austen's 'Pride and Prejudice.' The series featured Mary as ‘Lydia Britney Bennet,’ the youngest of the Bennet sisters. This role helped her establish herself as an actor in the industry. The series later won an 'Emmy' award.

In 2013, she appeared as ‘Sansa Stark’ in the 'Game of Thrones'-inspired series 'School of Thrones.'

In 2014, Mary appeared as ‘Ally’ in the thriller 'The Sound and the Shadow.' She also portrayed ‘Anne Shirley’ in the second episode of the 2014 web series 'Kissing in the Rain.' Furthermore, Mary was a guest in a special episode of the radio drama podcast 'Wolf 359' titled 'Change of Mind.'

Mary is highly active on social-media platforms and has acted in a few web series, too. She has also released her own web series, 'The Lydia Bennet!!,' which is a spin-off of 'The Lizzie Bennet Diaries.' The series earned her the title of the “Fraiser Crane (a popular fictional character on American TV) of the web series world.” In 2012, Mary launched her 'YouTube' channel, which now hosts her vlogs, her original music covers, and behind-the-scenes footage from her shows. In 2014, the channel got 'Patreon' as its sponsor. The channel has a series titled 'Craftversations,' which includes her original “interview-and-crafts” shows. In October 2014, Mary released her short film, 'I Ship It,' on 'YouTube.' She also worked in the play 'Muzzled the Musical.' The project reunited Mary with her 'School of Thrones' team.

Mary and Rachel Kylie, the writer of Lydia’s part in 'The Lizzie Bennet Diaries,' own a collaborative 'YouTube' channel titled 'Loosely Bolted.' The channel mostly hosts films, vlogs, and songs. Mary is also a member of the 'YouTube' channel 'Shipwrecked.' She was part of the award-winning series 'Edgar Allan Poe's Murder Mystery Dinner Party' and the short film 'The Case of the Gilded Lily.' Mary trades handmade candles on 'Etsy.' The candles are inspired by her various acting projects.

In 2013, Mary bagged a nomination for the 'IAWTV' award for the 'Best Actress in a Comic Role.' She and her 'Squaresville' co-stars won the award for the 'Best Ensemble Cast.' Mary was a finalist for the title of the 'Personality of the Year' at the third annual ‘Streamy Awards.’

Mary was born on March 28, 1987, in Fayetteville, Arkansas, US. She moved to Los Angeles for higher studies at the age of 18.

Mary attended the 'University of Southern California.' She was also a member of 'Alpha Delta Pi,' a 'National Panhellenic' sorority. In 2009, she graduated with a BA degree in theater and English. Mary later attended the 'British American Drama Academy.'
