Mary McCormack is an American actress known for her leading roles in the TV series ‘Murder One’, ‘The West Wing’, ‘In Plain Sight’ and ‘Loaded’. Born to a clinical therapist and an ice cream parlor owner, McCormack hails from a family with no direct links to the entertainment field. She attended Wardlaw-Hartridge School, and following the divorce of her parents in 1990, went on to attend Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut, eventually graduating with a BA degree in comparative arts. Her career began at the young age of 12 when she appeared in a stage production of a Christmas opera titled ‘Amahl and the Night Visitors’. The actress continued to perform in theatre and ultimately bagged roles on both the small and the big screens. Today, McCormack is recognized as one of the most versatile artistes in Hollywood. Married to producer cum director Michael Morris, she has three daughters.

Mary McCormack began her career at the age of 12, appearing in the opera ‘Amahl and the Night Visitors’. She then went on to work with various theatre companies including Naked Angels and The Atlantic Theater Company. From 1995 to 1997, she played Justine Appleton in the legal drama series ‘Murder One’. During this time, the actress also featured in ‘Private Parts’, a biographical comedy flick about the radio personality Howard Stern’s life from boyhood to his successful career in radio.
McCormack had roles in the movies ‘Deep Impact’ and ‘True Crime’ in the late 1990s. In 2001, she appeared in the American-German sci-fi mystery ‘K-PAX’. Two years later, she was cast in the comedy film ‘Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star’. She also began playing the recurring role of Debbie in the medical drama series ‘ER’ the same year.
From 2004 to 2006, McCormack featured as Deputy National Security Advisor on NBC’s political drama ‘The West Wing’. During this time, she also starred in the miniseries ‘Traffic’. Her performance as Carole McKay in the series garnered her a Prism Award nomination. The actress next did ‘1408’, a movie which follows an author who investigates haunted homes while residing at the titular room 1408 at a hotel in New York City.

In 2018, McCormack acted in the supernatural series ‘Falling Water’ and the sitcom ‘The Kids Are Alright’.
