Matthew Rutler was born on 14 April 1985 in Wyckoff, New Jersey, the United States, to David and Kathleen Rutler. He studied at Ramapo High School and later attended Roger Williams University from where he earned his BBA degree.

Career

Matthew Rutler began his career as a guitarist with the band Nate Mott and went on to release a number of songs, including “Say It” and “Vast Expanses.” From 2009 to 2011, he worked as a production assistant in a number of movies, such as ‘Grown Ups,’ ‘The Proposal,’ ‘Just Go with It,’ ‘The Town,’ and ‘The Social Network.’

Rutler was the production assistant in the romantic comedy flick ‘The Lightkeepers.’ This movie, which was written and directed by Daniel Adams, also featured popular actors like Richard Dreyfuss, Bruce Dern, Mamie Gummer, Blythe Danner, Julie Harris and Tom Wisdom. Rutler’s other movie credits include ‘Empire State,’ ‘Something Borrowed,’ ‘Law Abiding Citizen,’ and ‘What's Your Number?’

Currently, Rutler also serves as the head of a Los Angeles-based company called MasterClass Inc. Some of the chief investors in this group are Novel Advancit Capital, Novel TMT Ventures, Bloomberg Beta, WME Ventures, Downey Ventures, and Usher Terry Raymond.

Matthew Rutler met the Grammy Award-winning singer Christina Aguilera on the sets of the movie "Burlesque" in 2010. At that time, Aguilera was separated from her husband, Jordan Bratman, and was going through a messy divorce. She has one son, Max, from this marriage. Rutler became her friend and supported her during this difficult time. With time, he fell in love with her and the couple began dating after her divorce was finalized.
