Mindy on her official website (www.cutegirlshairstyles.com) has admitted that she was plain bored with the waterspout hairdos that her one-and-a-half-year-old twin daughters, Bailey and Brooklyn, sported in 2001. It was her exasperation with the twin daughters’ drab hairstyles that stirred her up to experiment with a range of trendy hairdos, ultimately providing the spark to create her YouTube channel Cute Girls Hairstyles in 2009.

She photographed every hairstyle that the kids tried as they grew up and archived the snapshots in a photo album and placed the folder beside the sink in the bathroom.
Snaps kept on adding to the album as she gave birth to two daughters. By the time the elder twins started attending school, Mindy noticed that they made it a point to flip through the folder and select a specific hairstyle for any given day. Mindy’s friends started taking an unusual interest in the hairdos and requested her for the details.
In due course of time, she took to blogging on the various hairstyles and even uploaded images to reinforce the content. As her blog started to grow in popularity, Shaun, her husband inspired her to make videos where she was seen doing the hair of their daughters. Soon, they started uploading the videos on YouTube, and after some months passed, Mindy was invited by the video-sharing platform to launch a new channel.
After carefully considering the offer, Mindy and Shawn hosted the Cute Girls Hairstyles channel in 2009, which has more than 5.64 million subscribers. The channel was later renamed ‘Mindy McKnight.’ While Mindy takes care of filming the videos, her husband oversees the technical aspects of managing the channel. A new video is uploaded every Sunday and the footage is usually based around beauty, fashion, crafting, and family vlogs. She also creates and circulates content for other well-known sites such as Google, Subaru, and IHC. She also has a partnership with Disney IMG to make available video content exclusively for the Disney group of websites.
