Career
Morgan Saylor attended a few acting classes, including a camp with the Department of Recreation, while growing up. She learned a lot about acting while working in theatres. While living in Los Angeles, Saylor auditioned for a voice-over role in the crime drama series ‘The Sopranos’. She was just 12 years old when she was selected for the role (‘Young Meadow’). She worked in two episodes of the series.
In 2009, Morgan Saylor made her debut on the silver screen as she took the role of ‘Annie’ in the dark fantasy film ‘Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant’. A year later, she appeared in another movie, titled ‘Father of Invention,’ featuring Kevin Spacey.
Two years after making her debut in the film industry, Morgan Saylor received her first big break on television. She was approached by the maker of ‘Homeland’, a spy thriller television show, for the role of ‘Dana Brody’. Her character was of a young teenage girl who is torn between her mother and father as their relationship becomes increasingly complicated. She played the eldest child and the only daughter of Nicholas and Jessica Brody. Nicholas Brody is a former marine who has returned home after eight years of captivity from Iraq. This complicates things in the Brody household as his wife Jessica had moved on with her life. As a teenager, Dana faces a lot of emotional hurdles and somehow manages to connect with her father. However, after learning about her father’s dark history in Iran, Dana struggles to accept him. What follows next turns Dana’s world upside down. Saylor’s portrayal of Dana was well-received by the critics, and she was praised for her mature acting capabilities. She along with the rest of the cast was nominated at the Screen Actors Guild Awards for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series category twice.
Morgan Saylor appeared in a few films after her stint in ‘Homeland’. She portrayed the character of ‘Gracie Highsmith’ in the horror film ‘Jamie Marks Is Dead’, and later in 2015, she appeared as ‘Julie White’ in the film ‘McFarland, USA’. In 2016, Saylor appeared in a lead role, ‘Leah’, in Elizabeth Wood’s directorial ‘White Girl,’ in which she portrays a troubled young woman who is addicted to drugs. She has also appeared in films like ‘Novitiate’, ‘We the Coyotes’, and ‘Blow the Man Down’.
