Mxmtoon Biography

Mxmtoon (pronounced em-ex-em-toon) is an American singer-songwriter, musician, YouTube star, and social media personality. She gained fame for her original music, travel vlogs, and personal entries. A native Californian, mxmtoon’s real name is Maia. She has been trained in the violin, cello, trumpet, and guitar. When she was in middle school, she started playing the ukulele. Prompted by a friend’s inspiring words, she decided to be a singer. Initially, she attempted to write songs with a comedic undertone. However, she later switched to writing songs with genuine and vulnerable feelings. One of the earliest songs of her career was ‘The Sideline’, which she put out sometime in 2017. In the ensuing years, she has emerged as one of the most promising pop singer-songwriters. In 2018, she released her debut extended play, ‘Plum Blossom’, through House Arrest Records. Maia has used social media to release and promote her music. On her mxmtoon YouTube channel, she has accumulated hundreds of thousands of subscribers and millions of total views. In August 2018, she got the chance to perform in front of a live audience for the first time at the Moroccan Lounge in Los Angeles, California.
