Nana Tucker, better known as Nana Visitor, is an American actress who portrayed the character of ‘Kira Nerys’ in the science fiction television series ‘Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (DS9)’. Visitor was part of the show as one of the lead characters and won several awards for her performance. She was nominated eight times in her career for that one role and won four of them between. Nana Visitor also played the role of ‘Jean Ritter’ in the ABC television series ‘Wildfire’ in the mid-2000s. Since her debut as an actress in 1976, Visitor has featured in over 65 films and televisions show altogether. Even though she has mostly worked on television and in theaters, she has also appeared in a handful of movies so far. Some of her popular films are ‘Babysitter Wanted’, ‘Swing Vote’, ‘Friday the 13th’, ‘The Resident’, and ‘Ted 2’. She has also voiced her popular character of ‘Kira Nerys’ in the video game versions of the show ‘Star Trek: Deep Space Nine – Harbinger’, ‘Star Trek: Deep Space Nine - The Fallen’, and ‘Star Trek Online - Victory is Life’.

Nana Visitor began her journey as an actress on the Broadway and appeared in the musical ‘My One and Only’ as ‘Flounder’. She then made her television debut in the soap opera ‘Ryan's Hope’ as ‘Nancy Feldman’. She appeared in a number of television shows playing guest or special roles between 1985 and 1993. Some of her appearances were in shows like ‘Hunter’, ‘MacGyver’, ‘Knight Rider’, ‘Highway to Heaven’, ‘The Colbys’, ‘In the Heat of the Night’ and ‘Matlock.’
Nana Visitor received her first big role in 1993 which later became the highlight of her acting career. She was signed for the role of ‘Kira Nerys’, the Bajoran militia officer, in the American science fiction television series ‘Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (DS9)’. Visitor was one of the main characters on the show that also featured artists like Avery Brooks, Alexander Siddig, René Auberjonois, Theresa Lee "Terry" Farrell, Armin Shimerman, Cirroc Lofton, and Colm Meaney. Visitor’s character in the show was a freedom fighter that was from a planet named ‘Bajor’ and fought against the ‘Cardassians’. Her character kept growing in stature as the show progressed and it earned her a lot of fame in the show business. Visitor was nominated seven times at the Online Film & Television Association Awards in various categories for her role and won three awards including two ‘Best Actress in a Syndicated Series’ awards. She also won the 1995 Sci-Fi Universe Magazine, USA, for Best Supporting Actress in a Genre TV Series.
After making a name for herself with her role in ‘Star Trek: Deep Space Nine’, Visitor appeared in the recurring role of ‘Elizabeth Renfro’, in the cyberpunk television show ‘Dark Angel’. This show was the breakthrough show for the talented actress Jessica Alba. Visitor then played ‘Jean Ritter’ in the ABC series ‘Wildfire’. She was part of the show for over three years. Nana Visitor has voiced multiple characters in the American animated sitcom ‘Family Guy’ between 2009 and 2014. The characters she voiced include ‘Rita’, ‘Brenda Quagmire’, ‘Nancy Pelosi’, ‘Justin's Mom’, and ‘Kate's Mom’ in the series. In 2015, Nana Visitor appeared alongside Mark Wahlberg, Seth MacFarlane, Amanda Seyfried, Morgan Freeman, and Giovanni Ribisi in the comedy film ‘Ted 2’, the sequel of the original 2012 film ‘Ted’.
