Nate Ruess, born as Nathaniel Joseph Ruess, is an American singer and songwriter. He is best recognized as the lead singer of the pop band, Fun, and a former member of the band, The Format. With Fun, he has released the albums 'Aim and Ignite' and 'Some Nights' and several singles including "At Least I'm Not as Sad", "We Are Young", "All the Pretty Girls", "Walking the Dog", "C'mon", "Carry On" and "Why Am I the One". With The Format, Ruess has contributed to the albums 'Interventions + Lullabies' and 'Dog Problems' as well as the EPs 'Snails', 'Live from the Living Room: Volume One' and 'And Now I Hope You're Alright - Live in California.’ The American singer has also contributed to numerous tracks as a solo artist. Some of the hit singles he has recorded till date are “AhHa", "Great Big Storm" and "What This World Is Coming To".

Career
Before forming The Format in 2002, Nate Ruess and his friend Sam Means performed in the bands Nevergonnascore and This Past Year. The duo's first single titled "The First Single" from one of their EPs became a hit on Phoenix radio station KEDJ which ultimately garnered the duo a deal with Elektra Records in 2002. The following year, they released their first studio album titled ‘Interventions + Lullabies’.
The Format released their second EP titled ‘Snails’ with Atlantic Records in 2005. Ruess and his music partner then began working on their second album ‘Dog Problems’ which was released by their own newly established label, The Vanity Label, later on.
Following The Format's breakup in 2008, Ruess collaborated with Andrew Dost and Jack Antonoff to form the band Fun. On August 25, 2009, the band released its first studio album ‘Aim and Ignite’ that included the singles “At Least I'm Not as Sad" and “Walking the Dog".
Three years later, they came out with their second album titled ‘Some Nights’ that included hits like "We Are Young", "Some Nights" and "Carry On". Soon after this they released several EPs including ‘Shane Went to Bangkok: Live in the USA’, ‘The Ghost That You Are to Me’ and ‘Point and Light’. The band Fun won the Grammy Award for Best New Artist in 2013.
Nate Ruess also performs as a solo artiste. In 2015, he released his solo album ‘Grand Romantic.’
