Born as Ke’Asha McClure, she adopted the name Queen Key during her high school days. She began rapping as a hobby when she was a teenager. With time, she decided to take music more seriously, ultimately pursuing a professional rapping career. Today, Key has emerged as one of the few young female rappers in a field that is known to be dominated by males.
