René-Charles Angélil Biography

René-Charles’s parents met for the first time in 1980. Celine was just 12 years old then, and René was Celine’s manager. René was sent a tape that featured 12-year-old Celine singing a song. He was a married man back then. René was previously married to Denyse Duquette and had a son named Patrick. René and Denyse divorced in 1972. René married singer Anne Renée 2 years after the divorce and fathered two children with her, namely, Jean-Pierre and Anne-Marie Angélil. The marriage ended in a divorce in 1986.

Soon after René became Celine’s manager, they began touring to promote her music. René even mortgaged his house to finance Celine’s first album in 1981. Their relationship began in 1988. Celine was 20 and René was 46 at that time. Despite such a huge age gap, they got married on December 17, 1994. The wedding was held at the 'Notre-Dame Basilica' in Montreal and was broadcast live on Canadian TV.

René and Celine faced a lot of difficulty trying to conceive. In May 2000, Celine had two fertility operations at a clinic in New York to improve her chances of conceiving, but they were in vain. The whole procedure was publicized extensively by the media. After years of failed attempts to conceive, they opted for in-vitro fertilization. Soon, they announced Celine’s first pregnancy.

René-Charles Angélil was born on January 25, 2001, in Palm Beach, Florida, US. He has a set of twin brothers, Eddy and Nelson. They were born in 2010, after Celine’s sixth treatment of in-vitro fertilization. René-Charles uses his father’s name with his first name. Both his parents are Canadian citizens. Canadians are known for their love for ice hockey, and René-Charles is not an exception. He is a huge ice hockey fan and plays the sport regularly. He has also played ice hockey for the 'Nevada Storm Midget AA' league. René-Charles is active on 'Instagram' and often posts pictures from his ice hockey matches. He once posted a video on 'Instagram' that featured him playing with his team.

René-Charles lost his father to a massive heart attack on January 14, 2016. At the funeral, he gave an emotional and heart-warming speech. René-Charles’s maternal uncle, Daniel Dion, died 2 days later.

René-Charles met Rihanna at the 2016 'Billboard Music Awards.' He later posted his picture with her on 'Instagram.' At the same event, René-Charles surprised his mother when he presented the 'Billboard Icon Award' to her. The gesture made Celine emotional. She struggled to hold back her tears while accepting the award and asked René-Charles to be by her side while she finished her acceptance speech.
