Reno Wilson’s career began with his role in the TV sitcom ‘The Cosby Show’. The show aired from 1984 to 1992, and was a huge success. It focused on an upper-middle class black family residing in Brooklyn, New York. The series won many awards, including six Emmy Awards and two Golden Globe Awards.
He made his film debut in the comedy film ‘Sgt. Bilko’. He played the role of a radio jockey. The film was a commercial and critical failure. He continued to appear in other movies, such as ‘Fallen’ (1998), ‘Mighty Joe Young’ (1998) and ‘She Creature’ (2001) in the ensuing years. Between 2001 and 2002, he had a main role in the sci-fi TV series ‘The Chronicle’. The reviews were mostly favorable. In 2005, he played a main role in the crime drama TV series ‘Blind Justice’.
In 2006, Wilson had a supporting role in the action film ‘Crank’. The film was a success commercially, earning over three times its budget. The reviews were also mostly positive. His popularity grew further in 2007, when he voiced Frenzy in the sci-fi action film ‘Transformers’. Directed by Michael Bay, the film was a huge success commercially, earning over $700 million on a budget of $150 million. Both the films were directed by Michael Bay, and both were commercially successful, with each grossing over $1 billion at the box office. In 2017, he appeared in the fifth film of the ‘Transformers’ series, ‘Transformers: The Last Knight’. It wasn’t as successful commercially as its predecessors. In 2018, he had a role in the TV series ‘Good Girls’. His most recent work on the big screen was in the 2019 biopic ‘Bolden’.
