Richard Wershe Jr. is an American convicted drug dealer and former informant for the Federal Bureau of Investigation. In the 1980s, he gained notoriety in the streets of Detroit under the moniker White Boy Rick. Wershe Jr.’s parents opted for a separation when he was five years old. He and his sister subsequently stayed with their father. Wershe Jr. was introduced to the world of crime by his sister’s boyfriend. He subsequently met the Curry brothers, the drug kingpins of his neighbourhood at the time. The FBI had reached out to the Wershe family even before he got involved with the Curry brothers. Through his father, 14-year-old Wershe Jr. provided the government agency with the information that allowed them to build a case against the brothers. After they were sent to jail, Wershe Jr. gradually replaced them as a major drug dealer in his neighbourhood. He was eventually apprehended in 1987 and spent the following 30 years of his life incarcerated. In 2017, he was granted parole but as he was involved in a car theft ring while he was in prison, he was sentenced to serve five more years.
