Robin Jameson was born on December 28, 1953, in Los Angeles, California, to Georgia and Jim Jameson. She and her twin brother, Roger, and three sisters, Cindi, Jamie, and Karin, were brought up in Oklahoma. She began her education at Emerson Elementary School and later attended Duncan High School, Duncan, Oklahoma.

Relationship with Phil McGraw

Robin McGraw is currently married to Phillip Calvin “Phil” McGraw. Her husband hails from Vinita, Oklahoma but his family later moved as his father, Joseph J. McGraw, Jr. wanted to study psychology. After graduating from Shawnee Mission North High School in Overland Park, Kansas, Phil enrolled in the University of Tulsa through a football scholarship. McGraw later left the University of Tulsa to attend Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas, from where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology in 1975. A year later, he earned his Master of Arts degree in experimental psychology. In 1979, he got his PhD in clinical psychology from the University of North Texas.

In the early years of his professional life, McGraw worked with his father at his private psychology practice in Wichita Falls, Texas. He later co-established Courtroom Sciences, Inc. (CSI), along with lawyer Gary Dobbs. Courtroom Sciences is a trial consulting firm that provides legal counsel to fortune 500 companies and wronged plaintiffs so they could reach settlements. Even though McGraw is not affiliated with the firm any more, he met Oprah Winfrey while he was working there. He subsequently started to make regular appearances on her show.

In September 2002, his own TV show, ‘Dr. Phil,’ premiered in syndication. In the ensuing years, the show has won numerous awards, including a Daytime Emmy in 2010 and has become an integral part of the American pop culture.

McGraw was previously married to former cheerleader and homecoming queen, Debbie Higgins McCall, from 1970 to 1973. While his marriage to McCall was being annulled, McGraw started a relationship with Robin. They married on August 14, 1976, and have two children together, Jay (born September 12, 1979) and Jordan (1986). Robin and her husband presently reside in Beverly Hills, California. There are rumours that she has undergone plastic and cosmetic surgeries, but she vehemently denies them.

Robin has been part of her husband’s show since the very first episode. The viewers have come to admire her for her opinions on motherhood, the responsibilities of a wife, and the problems that women encounter in their daily lives. She has also been featured prominently on several episodes of the syndicated television newsmagazine ‘Entertainment Tonight’ and WGN-TV’s talk show ‘Rachael Ray’. In 2018, she appeared as the guest co-host of CBS’ ‘The Talk’.

Two of Robin’s books have topped the ‘New York Times’ best-selling list. She made her debut as a writer with ‘Inside My Heart: Choosing to Live with Passion and Purpose,’ which was published in September 2006 through Nelson Books. A devout Christian, Robin conveys her personal philosophies and life choices that have strengthened her faith in God through the book. In 2007, she published ‘From My Heart to Yours’, in which she attempts to help women from all walks of life with humble yet powerful words of inspiration. In January 2009, she published her second New York Times’ bestseller, ‘What’s Age Got to Do With It?’, in which she recounts her path to success.

In 2014, Robin launched Robin McGraw Revelation Lifestyle Brand and within a year of inception, secured a contract with Home Shopping Network. In 2016, she introduced Robin McGraw Revelation’s Luxury Skincare Collection.

Robin serves as a board member of Dr. Phil Foundation, which seeks to provide a support system for the emotional, physical, mental, and spiritual needs of children and families. In 2013, she launched her own charity foundation ‘When Georgia Smiled: The Robin McGraw Revelation Foundation’ in order to usher in real changes by implementing programs that would help women and children.
