Inheriting the gift of musical talent from his parents, Ronnie Turner had an aptitude for arranging music. He played a wide variety of instruments and singing from a very early age. After his parents ended their marriage in 1978, Ronnie would often play the bass guitar for his mother’s band. Later, he played with his father’s band too.
In spite of his musical talents, Ronnie Turner chose acting as his profession. Despite the popularity and connections of his famous parents, initially, Ronnie faced a lot of challenges in gaining a foothold in Hollywood. After many struggles, his talent shone through and he bagged a role in the movie What’s Love Got To Do With It, which was released in 1993. The movie was based on the life of his mother, Tina Turner, who broke free from a physically and mentally abusive marriage with his father, Ike Turner, to become a singing sensation. Ronnie is well remembered for his role as part of the ‘Ike and Tina Turner Revue’ in the movie.
Very little is known about his acting career thereafter, but he continues to play small roles in Hollywood movies. Reportedly, he also played the bass guitar in a Santa Barbara and Los Angeles based band called The Prophets (later renamed to Black Angel) in 1999. He has now taken up an alternate career as a real estate broker in Los Angeles, California, from which he makes a sizeable income.
Ronnie Turner was born as Ronald Renelle Turner on October 27, 1960 in Los Angeles, California, USA. He is the only child from Ike and Tina Turner’s tumultuous 16-year marriage. His father was a renowned musician and one of the pioneers of 1950s’ rock and roll music. His mother is often referred to as ‘The Queen of Rock and Roll’.
Ronnie has six siblings from his parents’ other relationships – Ike Turner Jr., Michael Turner, Mia Turner, Linda Trippeter, and Twanna Turner Melby from his father, and Craig Raymond Turner, from his mother. Ronnie’s father passed away in December 2007 and his elder brother, Craig, committed suicide in 2018.
Ronnie married French-American singer and reality star, Afida Turner, in 2007, after dating her for some time. Afida had a rocky relationship with Ronnie’s mother and accused her of refusing to financially help her son in his time of need. The couple announced their separation in June 2017, but they have reconciled since then. Ronnie is reportedly now living a peaceful life with Afida in the U.S. While his mother and wife are very active on social media, Ronnie seems to shy away from it and leads a peaceful life away from the limelight.
