Career

Ryan McPartlin spent his early years as a model for Abercrombie & Fitch. His first acting role came in 1999 when he appeared in an episode of ‘Nanny’. This was followed by a guest role in ‘L.A. 7’. From 2001 to 2004, he played Hank Bennett in the soap opera ‘Passions’. During this time, the actor also featured in ‘King of the Ants’, an independent neo-noir crime thriller film adapted from Charlie Higson's novel of the same name. Soon after this, he began playing Riley Douglas Martin in the sitcom ‘Living with Fran’. In 2007, McPartlin joined the cast of the action/comedy spy drama ‘Chuck’ as Devon Woodcomb, a role he played until 2012. He also had guest roles in various TV programs, including ‘Everything She Ever Wanted’, ‘Mad Men’, ‘Friends with Benefits’, ‘Hot in Cleveland’ and ‘CSI: Miami’.

During 2013 and 2014, McPartlin starred in the comedy drama ‘Hart of Dixie’ as well as in the sitcoms ‘Mystery Girls’ and ‘Bad Judge’. During this time, he also portrayed the character of Ryan in ‘Sequestered,’ a series that follows the trial of a man accused of kidnapping and killing the governor's young son. The actor starred alongside Mayim Bialik in a television film titled ‘The Flight Before Christmas’ which released in 2015. The movie follows two people who end up spending their Christmas holidays together after their flight to home is diverted. A year later, McPartlin played a recurring role in the comedy/mystery series ‘Devious Maids’. He then featured in the action thriller movie ‘Hunter Killer’ which also starred Gerard Butler, Michael Nyqvist, Gary Oldman, Common, Toby Stephens and Linda Cardellini.

Ryan McPartlin was born on July 3, 1975, in Chicago, Illinois, USA, to Lois and Steve McPartlin. He has an elder brother named Chris. He studied at Glenbard South High School and later attended University of Illinois where he played football as a part of his Illinois Fighting Illini football team.

On October 26, 2002, he tied the knot with actress Danielle Kirlin. The couple has two sons: Dylan James and Wyatt Duke. McPartlin is also a board-certified personal trainer.
