Samuel Larsen is an American actor, singer, and model. He is best known for winning the first season of the American reality series ‘The Glee Project,’ along with Damian McGinty, and thus earning a seven-episode stint in the American musical comedy–drama series ‘Glee.’ He appeared in the season-9 auditions of the American singing competition series ‘American Idol’ but was eliminated during the ‘Hollywood Week.’ Initially, Larsen was seen doing runway modeling for fashion designer Ashton Michael. He got introduced to Skip Arnold during one such runway show, and the duo eventually formed the band ‘Bridges I Burn.’ Larsen also toured with the rock band ‘Palaye Royale’ for a while and is presently pursuing his solo career in music. He then came up with his debut EP, ‘Vices.’ He gained recognition with the recurring role of ‘Joe Hart’ in ‘Glee’ during its third and fourth seasons and again in its sixth season. He has also starred in the films ‘Recovery’ and ‘After.’

Samuel Peter Acosta Larsen was born on August 28, 1991, in San Francisco, California, US, to Henrik and Lupe Acosta Larsen. His father is from Denmark, while his mother is from Mexico. He has an older brother named Manolo and an older sister named Morgan.
He became passionate about music as a child and started playing the drums, the guitar, the bass, and the keyboards. He attended the ‘Murrieta Valley High School’ and graduated in 2009. During his sophomore year there, Larsen became part of the school band ‘15 North.’ He contributed to the vocals and played the guitar in the band. They performed in festivals. According to sources, he played music with different artists in his adolescent years and began singing at 16.

Career
Larsen auditioned during the ninth season of ‘American Idol.’ He cleared the regional audition but got eliminated during the ‘Hollywood Week’ held at the ‘Kodak Theatre,’ thus failing to reach the semi-finals.
He did runway modeling for American fashion designer and celebrity wardrobe stylist Ashton Michael, who has also designed for ‘American Idol.’ While doing one such runway show, Larsen got introduced to Skip Arnold. The two joined hands and launched the band ‘Bridges I Burn.’ Salvatore Spinelli later joined them as the third member of the band. Most of Larsen’s music is written and performed by him. He also had a stint touring and performing with the Canadian rock band ‘Palaye Royale’ during 2017 and 2018. He is presently focusing on his solo music career. His first EP, ‘Vices,’ released on October 27, 2014.
Meanwhile, he shifted to Los Angeles, where he applied to participate in the ‘Oxygen’ reality TV series ‘The Glee Project.’ The show served as an audition for the ongoing ‘Fox’ series ‘Glee.’ The winner of the show was supposed to gain a minimum of a seven-episode arc in the following season of ‘Glee,’ as a prize.
Larsen participated in the first season of ‘The Glee Project,’ which premiered in the US on June 12, 2011. He continued till August 21, 2011. Larsen and Damian McGinty were declared winners of the season. Each earned a seven-episode arc in ‘Glee.’ Initially, Larsen auditioned for the character of ‘Sam Evans’ in ‘Glee.’ However, Chord Overstreet got the role. Eventually, Larsen was cast as a formerly homeschooled ‘Christian Joe Hart.’
He made his first appearance in the recurring role of ‘Joe Hart’ in ‘Glee’ in a third-season episode titled ‘Heart.’ The episode also guest-featured Jeff Goldblum and Brian Stokes Mitchell. It saw Larsen performing ‘Stereo Hearts’ by American group ‘Gym Class Heroes’ and a mashup of the track ‘Cherish’ by American sunshine pop band ‘The Association.’
He continued to appear as ‘Joe Hart’ even after his seven-episode arc as the winner of the ‘The Glee Project’ ended. He featured in 10 episodes of the third season of ‘Glee’ in 2012 and later featured in 12 episodes of the fourth season of the series during 2012–2013. He featured in two episodes of the series in its sixth and the final season in 2015, marking his last appearance in the final episode of the series, titled ‘Dreams Come True, aired on March 20, 2015.
Meanwhile, Larsen, along with McGinty, Lindsay Pearce, and Alex Newell, were selected to sing for the tenth soundtrack album by the cast of ‘Glee.’ The album, titled ‘Glee: The Music, The Christmas Album Volume 2,’ was released on November 11, 2011, by ‘Columbia Records.’ He was the guest judge of the second episode of the second season of ‘The Glee Project.’ The episode, titled ‘Dance-ability,’ was aired on June 12, 2012.
Larsen has starred in the films ‘Recovery’ (2016) and ‘After’ (2019). He has also been part of ‘The Breakup Girl’ (2015) and ‘Disconnected’ (2017).
