Born to John W. Moakler III and Gail Moakler, Shanna Moakler has German, Irish and Portuguese ancestry. She was born on March 28th, 1975 in Providence, Rhode Island, USA. She has two older brothers, Kirk and John W. IV, and an older sister, Michelle, who died in 2012.

She went to Barrington High School. She reckons to be a tomboy and the biggest dork in the school. She claims that she wasn’t even that tall, and weighed 75 pounds, until she was 17. By the time she went out of school, she had dated the captain of the football team and was voted as the best dressed.

As a kid, she loved visiting her Grandfather’s farm where she used to play outdoors and have fun like boys! Shanna was also one hyper-competitive roller skater for twelve long years!

After completing her graduation, she moved to Miami, and then New York, before she moved to Los Angeles to pursue her acting career.

From a young age, Shanna started participating in various beauty pageants. At the age of 17, Shanna represented Rhode Island in the Miss Teen USA pageant in 1992. She finished 7th overall with a score of 9.115, 9.279 and 9.087 in preliminaries, interview and swim suit rounds, respectively!

In 1993, she finally won her first beauty title, ‘Miss Teen All American. After winning the title, there was no stopping her.

In 1995, Moakler won the title of ‘Miss New York USA’ in the Miss USA pageant. Soon after winning the title, she became the first runner-up at the Miss USA pageant with scores of 9.06, 9.62 and 9.61 in preliminaries, interviews and swimsuit divisions.

She stood first in the evening gown competition with a score of 9.86. The event was held at South Padree Island, Texas!

In 1995, Shanna was crowned Miss USA, after Chelsi Smith became Miss Universe. Thereafter she appeared in various magazines including ‘Cosmopolitan’ and ‘Brentwood’. She made news when she posed for ‘Playboy’ magazine, and was named ‘Playmate of the Month’ in December 2011. She admitted that she was a bit nervous while posing nude for the magazine.

As per ‘Playmate’, her measurements were as follows - 34” bust, 24”waist, 34” hips. Moakler had also posed nude for PETA for an anti-fur campaign.

She had also appeared in a campaign for Cutty Stark.

Television Career

In 1996, she started her television career with occasional appearances in series like ‘Louis and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman’ and ‘Due South’.

In 1997, she did a television movie called ‘Friends ‘Till The End’ with Shannen Doherty. She played the role of Lisa.

In 1998, she made a short appearance in ‘Timecop’, as Allison Kendall. She also bagged her first big role in the beginning of the same year. She played the role of officer, ‘Monica Harper’, a trouble-maker rookie, on the television drama, ‘Pacific Blue’.

From 1999-2000, she appeared as a celebrity contestant on a reality game show, ‘Search Party’. The show aired on E Network and the contestants were required to perform certain tasks on various exotic locations.

In 2003, she appeared on ‘Punk’d’ where she helped Ashton Kutcher punk her then boyfriend, Travis Barker.

In 2005, she made an appearance on television show, ‘Joey’, starring Matt Le Blanc. The same year she also made a guest appearance on ‘Jake in Progress’ that starred John Stamos.

From 2005 to 2006, she, along with her then husband, Travis Barker, starred in a reality TV show ‘Meet the Barkers’ for MTV.

From 2006 to 2010, she appeared in many TV shows, including, ‘CSI: Crime Scene investigation’, ‘Entourage’, ‘Dancing with the Stars’, ‘Crowned: The Mother of all Pageants’, ‘Minutes to Win It’, also known as the ‘Last Beauty Standing. Amongst the 10 contestants, Shanna was the ‘Last Beauty Standing’ and became the top winner. She won $10,000 for her charity.

In 2014, she was one of the judges at ‘Price is Right’, a long running television game show.

In 1997, she played ‘Jaime’ in ‘Poison Ivy: The New Seduction’. The same year she appeared in a movie called, ‘Telling You’.

In 1998 movie ‘The Wedding Singer’, she appeared as an air-hostess.

In 1997, she started a relationship with rockstar Billy Idol. They appeared together in the movie, ‘The Wedding Singer’.

In the October 1997, she started dating boxer Oscar De La Hoya. She has a daughter, Atiana Cecelia De La Hoya, with him. They got engaged in 1999, but ended their relationship in 2000, following which Shanna filed a palimony suit against Oscar stating that he abused her and that he was also an alcoholic. In 2011, the matter was settled out of court. Oscar provides financial support to their daughter.

In 2001, she started dating actor Dennis Quaid, but their relationship didn’t last quite long.

On October 30, 2004, she got married to Travis Barker. The couple has two kids - a son named Landon Asher Barker and a daughter named Alabama Luella Parker. The kids were born on October 9th, 2003 and December 24th, 2005, respectively.

In 2006, Travis filed for divorce. Shanna blamed Travis for their divorce as she was convinced that her husband was going out with Parish Hilton. There were rumors of Shanna hitting Paris too.

In November 2006, Shanna threw herself a break-up party in Las Vegas with a divorce cake. Their relationship went off-and-on for quite a while.

They even made an appearance at 2007 Video Music Awards. In 2009, they finally separated; they both are co-parenting their children ever since.

Travis and Shanna again went into verbal argument in 2014, but again reconciliated their differences, and are now in a good state.

Since 2014, Shanna is dating ‘Hells Angel’ biker, Bryan Sollima.
