Career

Even though Sigils joined his eponymous YouTube channel back in April 2012, it is not known when he first began uploading videos on the channel as he later archived or deleted some of his early videos. He also took a hiatus, before returning to the channel on April 28, 2016 with a gameplay video of Who's Your Daddy?! Since then, he continues to upload gaming videos regularly covering games such as Minecraft, Overwatch, Among Us, Fortnite and more.

He has collaborated with friends and fellow YouTubers like SSundee and ParkerGames, and considers that “telling dumb jokes with my friends” is the real USP of his channel. He usually posts short videos containing the highlights of his playing sessions, often with friends. Later in November 2017, he created a second channel called SigilsTV, which has a similar format, even though instead of Minecraft, Among Us is the most featured game on this channel. He also has a third channel, Sigils Shorts, created in February 2021, on which he uploads short videos from the games he plays. Along with his friends and fellow YouTubers Biffle, Henwy and Nicovald, he formed the YouTube group Regulars in October 2020. The group has a separate YouTube channel on which they usually focus on real life challenges, reactions, and vlogs. Sigils is the oldest member of the group and uses the color green to represent himself.

Funneling Audience towards YouTube

While Sigils is primarily known for his YouTube channels, he is present and active on almost all other social media platforms including Twitch, Twitter, TikTok and Instagram. He usually utilizes the other platforms as a means of expanding his fan base. Sigils, who has 290K followers on his TikTok profile, told Forbes in August 2020, that the then-president Donald Trump’s announcement of a potential TikTok ban “would definitely impact a major funnel for attracting new people to my audience.” On TikTok, he posts “basically just short ads” for his gaming content on his YouTube channels. He, however, is most active on Twitter and usually posts almost every day, sometimes even more than once a day. He also occasionally streams games on Twitch, but is not very active on the platform.

Family & Personal Life

Sigils was born as Andrew Givler on April 8, 1989 in the United States. While his place of birth is not known, he currently resides in Los Angeles, California. Before he gained enough fame on YouTube to focus on it fulltime, he worked at EMSI, an economic data and analytics firm in Moscow, Idaho, specializing in labor market data, analyses, and consulting. He served as a sales intern at the company for a few months in 2013 before joining it as a sales associate in September that year. A year later in September 2014, he took charge of product management at the company, but left it the next September. He then joined as a director of game design at Mineplex, LLC, which creates proprietary 3rd-party gaming software and server development for Minecraft, apart from standalone games for iOS and other platforms. He worked at that capacity for two more years before becoming a fulltime YouTuber in September 2017.
