Simon Monjack Biography

(Film Director, Screenwriter, Producer)

Birthday: March 9, 1970 (Pisces)

Born In: London Borough of Hillingdon

Simon Mark Monjack was an English film director, producer and screenwriter who had a brief career in film industry. Having said that, Monjack wasn’t in any way less talented than his peers! Just the fact that he did not have time by his side to prove his mettle in the industry can be claimed as one of the reasons of his short tenure in Hollywood. Starting off in 2000, Monjack donned several hats in his seven year tenure, donning the role of a producer, director, screenwriter and even makeup artist. He made his debut with ‘Two Days, Nine Lives’, a film that was conceptualized, directed and produced by him. He was involved sporadically in other projects as well. Monjack’s life was in the news more for his callous financial status than his films. He also suffered from health complications all through his life. A month before his wife Brittany Murphy passed away, Monjack had become ‘incoherent’ during his flight from Puerto Rico to Los Angeles. In January 2010, a month after her death, he was admitted to the hospital where reports of his suffering from heart problem surfaced. Tragically he died just four months after in May 2010 due to pneumonia and anaemia.

A year later, in 2006, he was alleged for a nearly $500,000 judgement against him by Coutts Bank. In 2007, Monjack was arrested on grounds of expired visa in United States.
