Relationship with Idris

Sonya met Idris for the first time in 2005, through a mutual friend. She was at the initial phase of her law career at that time. She had an office with around 10 employees, while Idris was struggling to come out of his failed relationship with Desiree Newberry, a pole dancer. He was earlier married to makeup artist Hanne Norgaard, and the couple had a son.

Eventually, Sonya and Idris began dating each other. They even started living together in Maryland. The couple often spent quality time together in Vegas. They never planned to get married. However, after dating for several months, they finally decided to take the plunge.

Sonya and Idris got married on April 9, 2006, at the 'Kittle White Wedding Chapel' in Las Vegas. An estate agent named Daniel Krastev was the only eyewitness of the wedding. Unfortunately, their relationship turned sour soon after. Sonya’s career was blooming, while Idris was still struggling to find a good job. This caused a stir in their marriage, and they finally decided to get divorced.

Divorce

Sonya filed for divorce after a few weeks of her marriage to Idris. According to sources, the reason for the divorce was Sonya’s focus on her career. Following the marriage, she could not relocate to Los Angeles, as she had a flourishing law career in Nevada. Idris also chose his career over marriage. Reportedly, the divorce had a huge impact on Sonya.

The divorce was filed in Maryland in June 2006. However, the state law specified that any marriage should last for at least a year before a couple files for a divorce. Thus, Sonya then filed for divorce in Nevada. In an interview, Sonya revealed other reasons for the divorce. She stated that she loved Idris dearly, but his previous relationships had caused problems in their marriage. She also blamed Idris’s friends who had been determined to prove that Sonya was a bad omen in Idris’s life. During the divorce procedure, the lawyers stated that Idris’s goals of becoming a sex symbol in Hollywood may have affected his married life.

Sonya is now legally divorced from Idris. However, she still supports Idris and appreciates his achievements. Sonya is still single and rarely makes any public appearance. She is also not active on any social-media platform. Sonya now lives in Maryland, on the Eastern Seaboard.
