Sota Fukushi is a Japanese actor who is most famously known for his role in the ‘Kamen Rider’ series, in which he played both lead and supporting roles. In particular, he is most remembered for his performance as Gentaro Kisaragi in TV series, ‘Kamen Rider: Fourze’. His charismatic personality, impressive acting skills and diligence won him the Japan Academy Award for ‘Newcomer of the Year’. Despite his young age and relative newness to the industry, he has been a part of several movies, TV dramas, and manga series, most of which have been commercially successful. With a strong foundation set for his future as an actor, Fukushi is likely to gain even more prominence in the coming years. He currently has several movies lined up for release and is working on other movies and TV dramas. Presently, he is represented by the KEN-ON group.

Career
Sota Fukushi’s became an actor by a stroke of chance as he didn’t originally intend to work in movies. He only auditioned for the ‘Kamen Rider’ series to make his parents happy. They were huge fans of the franchise. ‘Kamen Rider’ is an extremely popular superhero franchise in Japan, and it mostly comprises TV shows and films, which are based on manga of the same name. They have been on air since the 1970s.
Fukushi has been cast in both supporting and main roles across his tenure in the franchise. He became the youngest lead actor ever cast in the ‘Kamen Rider’ series when he joined it at the age of 18. He started his journey in the series in 2011 and made his final appearance in 2017. At the end of this series, he returned to play Gentara in ‘Kamen Rider Heisei Generations FINAL: Build & Ex-Aid with Legend Riders’. Overall, he appeared in ‘The Shogun and the 21 Core Medals’, ‘Movie War Mega Max’, ‘Super Hero Taisen’, ‘Space, Here We Come!’, ‘Movie War Ultimatum’, and ‘Fourze’. He went on to win the Japan Academy’s ‘Newcomer of the Year’ Award for his role in the series. His next important role was in the movie, ‘Boku ga Shokeisareru Mirai’ (2012) in which he played the role of a time-travelling student. In 2013, he acted in films, ‘Enoshima Prism’ and ‘Starman: This Star's Love’.
Year 2014 proved to be a busy year for Fukushi as he had several movies, manga series and TV dramas to his credit. He acted in the supernatural horror film, ‘As the Gods Will’ in which he played Shun Takahata, one of the five students in the story. He became the voice and live action actor for Yamato Kurosawa in the anime adaptation, ‘Say 'I Love You'. Next, he joined the romance manga series, ‘Kyō wa Kaisha Yasumimasu’. Later, he starred in Masaharu Take’s action film, ‘In the Hero’. His final appearance in 2014 was in the live adaptation of the popular manga series, ‘Strobe Edge’, as the male protagonist. In 2015, he landed his next big role as the lead in the serial drama, ‘Koinaka’, which was directed by Shōgo Miyaki. The story revolves around the protagonist who discovers love when he meets his childhood friend. He won the Japanese Academy’s ‘Rookie of Year Award’ for this role. In 2017, he acted in ‘My Tomorrow, Your Yesterday’, a movie adapted from the Takafumi Nanatsuki’s bestselling novel of the same name.
In 2018, Fukushi starred in a live-action film adaptation of the popular manga series, ‘Bleach’, playing the lead protagonist, Ichigo Kurosaki. He reunited with his ‘Fourze Rider’ co-stars Ryo Yoshizawa and Erina Mano, who played the roles of Uryu Ishida and Orihime Inoue, respectively. His other movies in 2018 include ‘Laplace's Witch’, ‘The Travelling Cat Chronicles’ and ‘Laughing Under the Clouds.’ His popularity with the Japanese audience is such that he has four photobooks to his credit, titled ‘After Chicken Rice Go to Merlion: Sōta Fukushi's First Photobook’, ‘Men's Photore Vol. 2 Sōta Fukushi’, ‘Blue’ and Fukushi Sōta no "Hajimete no XX”. These have been compiled by different publishers. While Fukushi is not active on social media, his staffing agency runs his Twitter account and provides regular updates on various appearances of the actor. Sota Fukushi was born on May 30, 1993 in Tokyo, Japan. His parents encouraged him to pursue acting. Though there have been several rumors that Fukushi is in a relationship, he has never confessed publicly that he is dating anyone. Apart from Japanese, Fukushi is fluent in English and he had taken the Level-2 English examination. He loves playing sports, mainly basketball and double Dutch.
