Spencer set up his YouTube channel under the username ‘menezbro’ on September 27, 2013. The first video on his channel was posted on February 17, 2015. Titled ‘7.5K Packs - FIFA 15 Pack Opening!!’, it features a fresh-faced Spencer opening his new FIFA 15 video game with his brother Elliot. In the initial days of his YouTube career, his content was either game or unboxing related. In time, he began to experiment. He started making vlogs, reaction videos, and challenge videos. Sometime later, he renamed his channel as Elmo Films. His content changed over time as well, as he started making more and more lifestyle vlogs. These days, his channel is focused on fashion, vlogging, and miscellaneous topics. Some of the most popular videos on his channel are ‘Flirting with Viewers on Snapchat!!’, ‘British Boys Try Dutch Food’, ‘The Truth About the Rumours’, ‘Song Lyric Text Prank on My Crush!! (Gone Sexual) Purpose - Justin Bieber’, ‘Bestfriend Vs Girl-Friend’, and ‘What actually happened between us...’

Spencer created his second channel, ‘Elmo Extra,’ on January 20, 2014, and uploaded the first video, ‘Cornwall Skatepark Trip | #001’, on February 19, 2016. He is rarely active here and posts vlogs and behind-the-scenes videos. Despite this, he has several thousand subscribers and over a hundred thousand views in total.

On YouNow, he has an account under the username ‘Spenxerr’ with thousands of fans and more than a hundred thousand views. He also has a popular Snapchat account.

He is represented by Big Pure Talent. He was once sponsored by Daniel Wellington Watches which allowed his fans to get 15% off on a purchase if they utilized the code ElmoFilms. In late 2018, ASOS made him one of the faces of their ‘Collusion’ campaign. He was featured along with five others on a ‘Vogue’ article. 4Music also did a piece on him that was released on their YouTube channel in November 2018.

After he dropped out of college, Spencer set up his own clothing line, named ‘Originalityisrare’, in September 2017. To promote the brand, he even put out a short film ‘Originality Is Rare’.

Spencer Elmer was born on February 2, 2000, in Devon, England, and grew up along with his older brother Elliot. After graduating from high school, he enrolled at a college but soon started having problems. According to Spencer, it did not feel like he was part of it and he was always the odd one out. Moreover, he was not learning anything significant. He subsequently had a conversation with his parents, during which he expressed his desire to take a year off. His YouTube channel was turning out to be a successful venture, and he wanted to see where it would lead. Initially, his parents were vehemently against the idea. After much convincing, they eventually relented.

In an interview with 4Music, Spencer admitted that his life had changed drastically over the course of the past couple of years. In 2016, he used to wake up every day at his mother’s house, attend school, come back home, and then make videos. Now, his daily routine is completely different. Sometime in early 2018, he moved to London and rented a residence with several fellow YouTubers, including Carmie Sellitto (touchdalight) and Millie T. Spencer. They are all part of the YouTube group The Social Climbers that also includes Jordan Houston, Ben Morris, Kate Elisabeth, LookingForLewys, and Jacob White. All of them were already accomplished YouTubers when this group was formed in 2017. The members often make appearances in each other’s vlogs. Some of their videos feature the members participating in challenges and doing covers of tracks like Lil Pump's 'Gucci Gang'. YouTubers Jack Sims, Joshua Wood Stacey, and Olly Aston are also Spencer’s friends.

Spencer is an avid skateboarder.
