Stephnie Weir is an American actress, comedian, producer and writer. She is well known for her role as a cast member of the live-action television comedy show ‘MADtv’ that aired in the early 2000s. She grew up in a small city in Southern U.S. and studied a variety of subjects at various institutions. Then, she moved to Chicago and started her career as an improv artist. She made her way into television and films via various small roles, and later landed her breakout role in ‘MADtv’. She attained much fame for her celebrity impersonations and character sketches on the show, most of which she wrote herself. The award-winning actress is also a talented writer, and has written and produced many episodes of television series like ‘Raising Hope’, ‘The Millers’, ‘The Eleven Year Itch’ etc. She even has a YouTube channel called ‘WeirDass’ with her husband. She has a trademark heavy Texan accent, but can easily morph into any character. She continues to work in films, television and theatre.

Career
After completing her education, Stephnie Weir moved to Chicago and started her career with improv performances at ‘iO Chicago’. After gaining some experience, she began performing at ‘The Second City’ and ‘Goodman Theatre’. In 1991, she made her television debut with a small role in the thriller series ‘Unsolved Mysteries’. After a few more television appearances, she made her film debut with ‘On Becoming Blonde’ in 1998.
In 2000, she was nominated for a ‘Joseph Jefferson Award for Actress in a Revue’ for her notable performance at ‘The Second City’ in Chicago. The same year, she also bagged the role of a feature performer in the television live-action show ‘MADtv’. In 2001, she became a regular cast member in the show. Around that time, she and her husband formed the comedy duo ‘WeirDass.’
She is also a talented writer and has written many character sketches for ‘MADtv’. Most of the characters that she played on the show came from her imagination except Mrs. Campbell, a character that was reportedly based on her own grandmother from Texas. Some of the most notable recurring characters portrayed by her were Dr. Kylie Johnson, Angela Wright, Dot Goddard, Dorothy Lanier, etc.
She was also notorious for her impersonations of celebrities Marcia Cross, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Laura Bush and most famously, Anna Nicole Smith, with whom she shared her birthday.
She announced that she would be leaving ‘MADtv’ by the end of season 10 in 2005, but show executives managed to persuade her to stay till season 11. In 2005, she also acted in a play ‘The Dining Room’ with a popular ensemble cast.
She acted in several films from 2005-07, namely ‘Fun with Dick and Jane’, ‘Moonpie’, ‘Ping Pong Playa’, etc. In late 2006, she portrayed the role of ‘Lorna’ in the sitcom ‘Big Day’. Thereafter, she had many notable appearances in television shows like ‘Til Death’, ‘Weeds’ and the role of ‘Mrs. Hoffman’ in an episode of the super-hit comedy show ‘Modern Family’ in 2011.In 2012, she produced many episodes of the television sitcom ‘Raising Hope’. She also wrote and produced the pilot of the proposed comedy series ‘Counter Culture’ for the ‘ABC’ network that year. The pilot was aired, but it was not picked up for a series. From 2013-14, she wrote and produced several episodes of the sitcom ‘The Millers’.
In 2014, she started a YouTube channel with her husband called ‘WeirDass’. They uploaded several episodes of a comedy sketch ‘Eleven Year Itch’ on it. In 2015, she bagged the lead role in ‘FX’ channel’s sitcom ‘The Comedians’. She also featured in episodes of shows like ‘Key & Peele’, ‘Castle’ and ‘Life in Pieces’ that year.
From 2015 to 17, she had a recurring role in the sitcom ‘Crazy Ex-Girlfriend’. In 2017, she won the ‘Best Actress in a Feature’ award at the ‘Chicago Comedy Film Festival’ for her role in the movie ‘Room for Rent’. From 2018 to 2019, she was part of the main cast of the sitcom ‘Happy Together’. During her time off from films and television, she continues to travel to Chicago to perform on stage with the ‘Second City Improv Comedy Group’.

Stephnie Carmel Weir was born on November 28, 1967, in Odessa, Texas, USA. Her mother’s name is Sharon. Stephnie graduated from Odessa College where she studied broadcasting and theatre. Thereafter, she moved to Southern Illinois University Edwardsville to major in women's studies and anthropology.
In 1989, she married her first husband, Sean Benjamin. But due to marital discord, they separated in 1995. In 2001, she married Robert Dassie and it is not known if the couple has any children. She currently lives in California, USA, with her husband.
