Suchitra Krishnamoorthi is an Indian actress, writer, singer and painter. She is the former wife of the renowned film director and actor Shekhar Kapur. Early in her career, she worked as a model and endorsed various products such as Palmolive soap and Colgate toothpaste. She became into limelight after starring in the film ‘Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa’ where she starred alongside popular Indian actor Shahrukh Khan. The film was a critical and commercial success. Other known works in her career include the thriller film ‘My Wife's Murder’ in which she starred alongside Anil Kapoor. Her first novel "The Summer of Cool" was released in 2009, and turned out to be a success. She also released a memoir ‘Drama Queen" which was published in 2013.

Career
When she was still in high school, Suchitra Krishnamoorthi began her acting career in the TV series ‘Chunauti’. The series was aired on DD national from 1987 to 1988. She made her film debut in 1991, playing a main role in the Malayalam film 'Kilukkampetti'. She also became a successful model and endorsed various products such as Colgate toothpaste, Limca, Palmolive soap, Sunrise Coffee and Clearasil.
She became popular after she played the female lead in the 1994 romantic coming-of-age film 'Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa'. The film starred Shahrukh Khan in the lead role, along with other actors such as Naseeruddin Shah and Deepak Tijori. The film did quite well commercially, earning 5.5 crores on a budget of 1.4 crore. Reviews were mostly positive. The film also won two Filmfare awards. Same year, she was seen in the romantic film 'Jazbaat'. Directed by Anant Balani, the film starred her in the lead role, alongside actors such as Rohit Roy, Reema Lagoo and Mohnish Bahl. The same year she also appeared in the film 'Vaade Iraade'. The next year she was seen in the TV series 'Kash-m-kash'. In 1999, she was seen in the Kannada action drama film 'Vishwa'.
In 2005, she was seen in the thriller film "My Wife's Murder". Directed by Jijy Philip the film also included actors such as Anil Kapoor, Boman Irani, and Nandana Sen. The film was a remake of the Telugu film named Madhyanam Hathya. She played the role of Sheela, wife of Ravi Patwardhan, played by Anil Kapoor.
In 2007, she was seen in the action drama film 'Aag'. Directed by Ram Gopal Varma, the film was a remake of the famous 1975 film 'Sholay'. The film included well-known actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Mohanlal, Ajay Devgn and Sushmita Sen. It received negative reviews from critics, and is also considered one of the worst Indian movies ever made. In 2009, she was seen in the film 'Karma Aur Holi' which was a commercial and critical failure.
In 2010, she played Nalini Kashyap, one of the supporting roles in the political thriller film 'Rann'. The film starred actors such as Amitabh Bachchan, Paresh Rawal and Sudeep. The film was a huge success at the box office. In 2019, she was seen in the spy thriller film 'Romeo Akbar Walter', where she played the role of Rehana Kazmi. The film starred actors such as John Abraham, Mouni Roy and Jackie Shroff.
As a writer, she released her first novel in 2009. It was titled 'The Summer of Cool' and was a huge success. She also released a memoir in 2013 titled 'Drama Queen'. The book has also been adapted into a successful musical play.
