Susan Pompeo is the wife of former U.S. Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo. She is recognized by most people, because of her husband’s role in Donald Trump’s administration. However, it should not be forgotten that she is an accomplished woman in her own right. Not only was she the President of the ‘WSU National Alumni Association’ but a Senior Vice President in ‘Emprise Bank’. She was also made the Honorary President of the ‘AAFSW’ recently. She is equally actively involved in her husband’s political career, having campaigned during both of Mike’s Congressional campaigns. Since Mike Pompeo’s appointments as ‘CIA Director’ and ‘Secretary of State’, Susan came into limelight for her role in her husband’s administrative duties. In addition to that, Susan Pompeo also has also been working with the ‘Dwight D. Eisenhower Excellence in Public Services Series’. Her active role in her husband’s political career drew both praise and criticism and many considered her to be deciding factor in his decisions.

While talking about Susan Pompeo, it is worth mentioning that her recent fame comes from her active role in Mike Pompeo’s political career. Simultaneously, she has also gained fame for her various philanthropic works in the USA. It all started for her when she was involved in theatre and student government bodies. She then graduated from ‘Wichita State University’ (WSU_ with a major in communications.
Even after leaving ‘WSU’, Pompeo was associated with the ‘Wichita State Alumni Association’, helping them with fundraising and coordinating alumni events in the USA. She eventually went on to serve as the ‘President of the WSU National Alumni Association’.
She continued volunteering for ‘WSU’, especially with the ‘Delta Gamma Fraternity’. Her influential participation in her husband Mike’s political career has been nothing short of phenomenal. She was an essential member of his team when he ran for the 2010 ‘House of Representatives’ election. She later stated that she thoroughly enjoyed the campaign process. She even appeared in a campaign advertisement entitled ‘Susan’s Boots’ supporting her husband.
Her role became clearer, after Mike Pompeo’s victory as she continued supporting him from behind the scenes. She sent Sedgwick County Commissioner, Karl Peterjohn, a bill of US$2500 when he decided to crash a fundraiser and left without donating anything. She also appeared on the ‘Susan’s Boots’ ad in 2016, supporting Mike’s Congressional campaign.
While she may not have political aspirations of her own, she has high hopes for women in politics and has been diligently promoting female Republican leadership in Kansas. To that end, she has been working with the ‘Dwight D. Eisenhower Excellence in Public Service Series’.
Her steadfast support of her husband continued when Mike Pompeo was sworn in by President Donald Trump as the ‘Director of Central Intelligence Agency’ on January 23, 2017. She even volunteered to become the ‘Honorary Chair’ of the ‘Family Advisory Board’, a role that earned her praise for her work with agencies and families. She continues to work behind the scenes, supporting her husband and bringing positive change even after Mike was sworn in as the ‘U.S. Secretary of State’ on May 2, 2018.

Controversy
Susan Pompeo was criticized severely by the media for allegedly thinking of herself as the ‘First Lady of CIA’ and using office resources, personnel, and floor space. She also drew criticism for traveling to Britain and Fort Monckton, during Mike’s official visits and for staying at ‘The Farm’. CIA representatives have dismissed the allegations as defamation attempts.

Susan Pompeo was born in Wichita, Kansas, USA, on February 1, 1965. She is the second wife of  Mike Pompeo. The couple got married 2000. Susan has a son named Nicholas from her earlier marriage. After their marriage Mike Pompeo adopted Nicholas. 

Susan went to high school in Wichita and later graduated from ‘Wichita State University’, majoring in communications. She is a ‘Wichita State Shockers’ fan and enjoys playing tennis, attending music theatre and operas. She is not active on social media platforms for security and personal reasons.
